About this listen

"Just let me love you...."

When Maleen King's father catches her naked in the hay loft with her high school sweetheart, he sends the 18-year-old away to receive a college education and rise above the humble beginnings of a Kansas dairy farm. Now, 14 years later, Mal comes home to run the farm after the death of her father. The stress of a disastrous marriage and being a NYC stockbroker made her long to return to a simple life.

Braydon Daniels, devastated when Mal's father sent her thousands of miles away, has thought about her every day since. Now, over a decade later, he finds himself alone, divorced, and beaten down by the trauma of his broken marriage. When Mal comes back to town for her father's funeral, he realizes the feelings he once had for her are just as strong. There's one little snag, though. His ex-wife is the woman Mal has hated her whole life. And they have a child together.

Despite the struggle to recover from their past relationships, the undeniable attraction between them still exists. Can they rekindle the passion they once had?

Please note: This is a 28,000-word second chance love story loosely based on the Grimm fairytale "Maid Maleen". No cliff-hanger and has an happily ever after ending. Bray is a non-alpha, sweet country boy. So if you like alpha-holes, this novella is not for you!

What a Beautiful Tale!

Made Maleen, by Jeanne St. James was such a beautiful story! I loved it. And loved it even more due to the fascinating fairy tale it was inspired by. This has all the second chance romance points in place that you need. Highly recommend and loved it!! Narration by Ava Lucas and Jason Clarke, and that's about the best of the best right there!!!

Coming home

I loved this story and the way it’s narrated is fantastic. Maleen is returning home after her father’s death to reclaim his farm. He didn’t want her to be a farmer so he sent her to the big city to make something of herself. She did but at what cost? Her heart belongs to her home and to her first love. Braydon has had to pick up the pieces of his heart after Maleen was sent away. His life isn’t what he pictured it could be until Maleen comes home. More than one of them finds their home again. I loved this story!

These two were so sweet together. I 💘that after all those years when they get back together the chemistry is still the same. This is HEA. The narrator's were great and I just loved this fairytale. #AudiobookObsessionReview

Sweet, with a little spice

This was a departure from other books I have read or listened to from Jeanne St James but in saying that I really enjoyed it. From start to finish the narrators Jason Clarke & Ava Lucas drew me in and kept my attention in this quick novella.

This is a sweet and romantic story that still manages to have some spice and steam to it. Well written, it will whisk you away and gave me a great break from the realities of life for a couple of hours.

I really liked both Maleen King and Braydon Daniels and found them easy to relate too. This is a second chance at love story that will have you cheering.
Will Maleen and Bray take a chance on love and in doing so put the past behind them? One click and find out.

Fabulous Story & Narration

I must admit to not being well versed in Grimms fairytales (I didn't know about "Maid Maleen"), but that didn't make a difference to my enjoyment of Made Maleen by Jeanne St. James.

I'd call this a second chance romance and it had all the aspects that I love about Jeanne St James' audiobooks - great story with relatable characters, steamy hot sexy times and a satisfying HEA.

The narrators Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas were excellent as usual. They gave each character a unique voice and had the right amount of emotion to make it realistic and believable.

Made Maleen is a short novella, but there is definitely a lot of story packed into the audiobook and you'll definitely finish listening with a smile on your face

Great story and narration

Great Story & Narration🎧

Made Maleen
A Modern Twist on a Fairy Tale
By: Jeanne St. James
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Ava Lucas

I enjoyed this story and how Jeanne St. James modernized and put her own spin on the classic Grimm fairytale “Maid Maleen”. This is a second chance romance with interesting characters and an appealing storyline.

Synopsis: "Seventeen year old Maleen King was in love with Braydon Daniels, but when her father caught them rolling in the hay he gives her an ultimatum and no choice but to leave the farm only to return after her father passes away. Braydon shows up at the wake and then her Dad’s home so they could talk. They’ve been apart for 14 years but their love for each other never died. Maleen had a successful career in NY but failed at marriage, Braydon became a veterinarian, he too had a failed marriage. Can the two make up for lost time and get it right this time?"

I enjoyed seeing how their story played out! St. James packed a lot into this story, which was just under 3 hours on Audio. As usual, Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas were wonderful. I can tell that they put a lot of heart into their performance. Both are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. I just adore Jason Clarke's work.

I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet, hot second chance romance

I don’t normally read second chances romances, but this one was was worth it.

A nice length for a short story (just under three hours) made it so the angst you know you can’t avoid with this genre was not overwhelming, and there was enough heat to keep me interested

The author made me care about what happened to characters, made me want to smack a few of them and made me root for the main character’s happy ending. All characters seemed very real and believable. I especially liked that the heroine had some smarts and didn’t need the hero, but wanted him.

This one is a keeper. I will definitely listen to it again.
