Publisher's summary

From a New York Times bestselling author and former Los Angeles Times reporter, two teens kill their friend, then befriend the girl's family to avoid suspicion.

On a beautiful October day in the San Fernando Valley, teenager Missy Avila was lured into the woods, beaten, tortured, and drowned. Missy's best friend, Karen Severson, publicly vowed to find the killer and even moved in with Missy's family to help. Three years later, a surprise witness exposed the murderers as Missy's two best friends—one of whom was Karen.

New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury delivers a story full of twists, turns, betrayals, and confessions. Missy's Murder is a shocking tale of one of the most notorious murder trials of the eighties, and a startling debut novel from Kingsbury, who now has over twenty-five million books in print.

Gripping and sad

Always love Karen Kingsbury’s book! This one was a little different with not as much faith based but still excellent

Beautiful heart wrenching story

This story kept me listening until 4am the first night . I just could not stop. I could feel the emotions of the characters and their loss. I wanted justice for Missy and her family!! The narration was also very good. I am so thankful that I made this purchase

Interesting case

The case and story telling was pretty good. There was a lot of fat shaming and looks shaming that if found weird and didn’t enjoy. Saying things like she was chubby so no boy would want her coming from an adult about a child. Could have done without that aspect.

Interesting to say the least

I thought it contained a lot of filler and irrelevant information in the beginning and at some other parts but other than that, this was written divinely! This story is unprecedented and horribly fascinating. RIP Missy❤️

Deception and murder

I have read most of Karen Kingsbury‘s books, and have always admired her faith and the strength that it brings her. I did not see that portrayed well in this book.

Excellent

This book came to my attention as I received an email from Amazon where it was presented as a Kindle edition. So I jumped right into Audible to see if I could buy a copy I could listen to while doing housework.

Well, I bought the book, and just couldn’t put it down it was far to gripping to stop listening.

The book is well written with dramatizations to make it more authentic for the reader/listener. I guess that was one of the reasons I got so captured by this book as it almost felt like being there. Even the courtroom section was good. No dry spots to find here.

A must read for all true crime aficionados
