Publisher's summary

When friends join ex-soldier Jonah on a European vacation, they discover that the beautiful German town where he was once stationed is now completely vacant. But the strangeness doesn’t end there. One of their group falls into a coma, another sees a strange creature, and large mounds of dirt appear everywhere.

Before they can determine just what is happening, Jonah realizes that something very deadly is watching from the shadows, waiting to hunt them. The pleasant vacation turns into absolute terror as Jonah and his friends struggle to survive.

But what they stumble across in the depths of an abandoned military base threatens not only their lives, but also all of mankind.

Unusual Post-Apocalyptic

I did enjoy listening to this different story. The story is based around mainly 1 character Jonah and ex-soldier and ex drug addict who talks his friends (Eric, Sharon, Daisy, Gil and Danielle) into taking a trip to his old base in Germany, all become sick and then he travel thru out Europe .But left me wondering how the molters actually came about taking over human bodies, this is where it became interesting nd action occurs. The ending a little abrupt left me wondering if this was going to be a series to find out what happens to Doreen and Swen. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

A different kind of Monster

This was a really great listen. Its kind of hard to describe! Let's just say it was different! In a good way! I really enjoyed this and would recommend this listen. The narration was good and the character development was a little confusing at 1st, but once it gets going it becomes clear.

Zombie Alien Monsters

This story is an OK spin on the "let's see if we can survive the apocalypse" genre. Some new stuff in that the zombies are probably some kind of alien parasite infesting people.
There is a bit too much character angst at the start only to lose most of them. A fair amount of stupid decisions result in a lot of death, infestation and blood.
I didn't feel a lot of connection to the main character and felt that the writing overall was more of a passive observation than engaged activity. Lots of military descriptions of ordinance and mindset which would be helpful in surviving this type of disaster.

Well written Sci-Fi/Horror

Very nice start to the series. The Molters are very original in the processes that is undergoes. It goes very in-depth into how they evolve. Great post-apocalyptic story highly recommended.

The narrator was excellent. This was my first book narrated by him. I am already listening to book 2 and so far it has been great.

I requested a free review copy of this audiobook and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

Travel Apocalypse

'Molters' really went for it, and that's something I always appreciate. I'm not certain that what Gleason was going for was 100% accomplished, but the story is fun and interesting nonetheless. There were some gaps in the plot that were difficult to over look and I never got a full picture on what the monster really was. I'm not sure I would recommend this one, but it certainly wasn't a terrible listen! David Drummond delivers a good performance.

Decent Premise, But With Gaps

I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.

There are absolutely elements of this story I enjoy. There is a fairly unique creature species, and it has three distinct classes. In a sense it’s like a bee hive, with numerous workers, a few drones, and a queen. The correlation isn’t exact, but similar enough in respect to percentages in each class.
There are some good action scenes, and the protagonist (Jonah) undergoes a significant change. He matures rapidly out of necessity, and continues along a better path through the conclusion. He goes from entitled to humble and reliable. In this regard I am quite pleased with the book.
The primary shortcoming is the gaps in the story. There are a few pivotal scenes that could have been amazing if they had been developed further. However, they were breezed through in order to rush back to Jonah driving. That is as far as I can explain without spoilers. These gaps give me an unfulfilled feeling about the story, and I considered giving only two stars for the story.
The narration is very good. David Drummond has done a couple hundred audiobooks and is quite skilled at storytelling. He also pronounces German well enough to pass as believable to my ears. Mind you, I don’t speak German but have heard enough to find the reading solid.

A different kind of apocalypse

This story was different and is a bit sci-fiish. There are references to the molters evolving from something on Earth, although, that is only speculations by the main character, Jonah. He's an ex soldier and when bodies start piling up he takes charge. He's forced to or die. There's a long string of characters in the book and it could almost be divided into two separate books in a series.

The story had a good flow. The narrator matched my thoughts of the main character and it had enough suspense to intrigue me. It also has a fair amount of death. In a situation like Jonah faces death would be unavoidable. I don't normally have problems with character dying anyways but in this case it fits well. There are a few heroic moments for Jonah as he attempts to slay the molters that keep his life on edge.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys zombie/apocalyptic type books and movies.

Kind of a goofy horror story

The characters were somewhat goofy in their dialogue and decisions. The story wasn't too bad and neither was the narration.

very 90's horror movie feel

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a very entertaining combination of 90's horror movie premise that make for a unique concept. Part pod people, part Aliens and a dash of zombies. It is really just good, gory fun. As long as you manage expecations, this is a fun listen.
