Publisher's summary

Ian Arthur had very little going for him. He was turning 20 and his life existed within the confines of the walls of his uncle’s antique shop. That is, until a box of junk came in and he found a bracelet. After he tried it on, it changed his life forever.

Penelope—the fiery, redhead, twin-tailed Fox girl, or Kitsune—was sent to get him. But his first night of learning about magic was definitely not normal. He damages his uncle’s shop, slays Darkbeasts, saves the beautiful Penelope (without knowing how he did it), and gets transported to a different world of learning.

When he gets to the Acadamia, he learns there are no other males there, just him. And the mostly female monster girl student body are now fighting over him. None of them realized that things are about to turn out differently. Ian now has magic, and it’s powerful.

This series contains the unabridged text, mayhem, monster girls, lots of tails, and magic the likes of which have not been seen in ages from a Magician.

Not Bad

I'm not a big fan of these books that are men's fantasies. That aside there was enough story added into it as well as a good amount of comedy as well as a decent background story arc that kept me interested in. Enough to listen to the entire book in one day.

That said the book did seem pretty rushed in places and I think it could have done a lot better as possibly even 2 books with a lot more information. And story added then what was given.

Great book and great narration!

I really enjoyed listening to the book. It was well written and I enjoyed the characters. The narrators brought the characters to life very well. I really enjoyed having both a male and female narrator. I'm looking forward to the next one!

excellent first book

Volume 2 just came out and I reread volume 1. this is an excellent story with tons of potential directions. the first book set up a very op MC. he was not a duck in any way or any hint of being a Mary Sue. all his potential o p Ness is easily explained. nothing in the book or narration grinded me the wrong way.
the narration was as good as it can be. Christian is excellent as always and Hazel has the best voice in the entire field, second to no one. can not wait for vol. 2

very cute story

I have to say I'm loving Ms Cohen's voice. with that out of the way. this is quite tame when I t comes to harem books. it's not bad but I was expecting a bit more. all in all an excellent story for a great writer.

Really good.

The story was amazing. I loved it. It has all you could want in a Mary Sue magical academy. With interesting mechanics and lore it top 15’s in my book. Can’t wait to see how the next book goes seeing how this one was tied up so neatly.

No character development

didn't finish the book guy is a literal Mary sue like rey but a dude. He is strong, really smart, looks good mans has no flaws and i can already tell he isn't gonna evolve as a character like one thing you absolutely need in a book is a CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and it feels like he's already at his absolute peak of what he can be and I'm only at chapter 3. so yeah if you wanna read a book with a stale piece of bread this is your book.

Mixed feelings

Take away the narrator and do some touch up and the story would be amazing. However the absolute lack of any kind of build up for literally anything that happens is depressing, especially with the narrator being more than underwhelming in his delivery (would it kill him to give some emotion?) Major plot points just develop suddenly, without warning, without ..... well.... plot. There will be some spoilers from here on.

When Ian first has sex with Penelope, it happens without any tension being built up, coming on the back of a chapter where he was trying to assert that he isn't a trophy to be won. Like come on. 5 min ago you weren't a trophy, but the absolute most innocent teasing and the very first time your alone with the girl again you pounce, no foreplay either. Straight to pound town with what equates to penis goes in vagina as the whole scene. The next major wtf is suddenly he's the decendent of king Arthur and Merlin..... really? From there we move on to apparently he has an idedic memory when it comes to reading and studying, but only that. That one came up with absolutely 0 hinting or foreshadowing btw. This all happens within like 3 chapters.....
