Publisher's summary
Monster Hunter International might be the premier monster eradication company in the business, but they’ve got competition.
When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Story
When marine private Oliver Chadwick Gardenier is killed in the marine barrack bombing in Beirut, somebody who might be Saint Peter gives him a choice: Go to heaven, which, while nice, might be a little boring, or return to earth. The Boss has a mission for him, and he's to look for a sign. He's a marine: He'll choose the mission. Unfortunately, the sign he's to look for is "57". Which, given the food services contract in Bethesda Hospital, creates some difficulty. Eventually it appears that God's will is for Chad to join a group called Monster Hunters International.

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

This is a great series. I don't know how Correia manages to write so prolifically or so well, but he does. The narrator is fantastic. I wish them both the best.

This series just doesn't get stale!
I stumbled on this series, and was hooked in the first 15 minutes. Each story is original, and this was no exception. In fact this book is better than the previous books. Is that possible? If you like Harry Dresden, you'll like this series. The two series cover completely different material, but the underlying sense of humor and the original plots are common characteristics. And Zee and Harry are both tall and capable.
The downside of discovering a fresh and new book that becomes a series is the waiting! It's like waiting for Christmas when you were 5 years old. Wait, is that a bad thing?

Still rocking.
The fourth book of this series and I've yet to tire of it. Granted this books story isn't quite as epic as the last three, but it is still a grand tale of modern day fantasy. I really enjoy the expanding universe that Correia is creating with each progressive story. Some really solid storylines are evolving over the entire series, and I'm looking forward to finding out how they are resolved.
Wyman's voice work is really top notch. I cannot think of a better narrator to this type of series. He's got the 'manly-man' character voice down pat, and he gives enough inflection and nuance to every character, so you never are confused about who is talking. My only *slight* complaint would be his female voices can be irritating at times. But, that's a gladly paid trade off for his multiple strengths.
Hoping to see more of this in the near future, but for now, I'm going to move onto Correia's Hard Magic series.

Any additional comments?
Sometimes my mind drifts off when I'm listening to an audiobook and I have to backtrack to hear what I missed. This never happens with the Monster Hunter International series! Lots of fast paced action and unexpected twists keeps my mind fully occupied.
Unlike some fantasy books where the characters are conflicted, Zee is different in that he's very clearly the good guy. Not just THE good guy, but A good guy too - one you'd want to have a beer with.
If you like stories where good kicks evil's butt, this is the series for you!

I'm running out of adjectives!!!!!!!
If you could sum up Monster Hunter Legion in three words, what would they be?
Exciting, fun, BOOM!
What other book might you compare Monster Hunter Legion to and why?
Somewhat reminiscent of David Eddings series (mix of other worldliness, character development, action, and fun... but Correia takes the concepts and takes them to the next levels. His characters are smarter, less predictable, and grow throughout the story. Enough connection in the story thread to be meaningful and comforting, but never stale or redundant.
Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have never listened to O. Wyman before listening to this series. THAT IS GOING TO CHANGE.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This book and the 3 proceeding... In fact, except for this one I have listened to all of them more than once.
Any additional comments?
Wow! Boom! Gasp! Cringe! Guffaw!

Spectacular story and excellent narration
This is the 4th book in the Monster Hunter series and it was an absolutely spectacular book. Tons of action, more information on Owen being the Chosen One, dragons, and nightmares coming to life all make for a super engaging, high octane read.
I listened to this on audibook and I highly recommend listening to this series on audiobook. The books are incredibly well read and lots of fun to listen to. I read the first couple books in the series and have listened to the last two. I actually enjoy listening to these books even more than reading them.
Owen and crew are in Las Vegas for the first annual International Monster Hunter convention when things go very wrong. An ancient world war II lab experiment is rampaging through the desert. This creature can bring a person’s worst nightmare to life. Owen and company have to take out this creature before it turns Las Vegas into a literal hell on earth.
This book has tons of action and guns; and some great new characters too. This is a wonderful storyline that is somewhat self-contained but also does an excellent job of building the overall storyline about Owen being the Chosen One.
This is the first book where we really get a look into the international monster hunter scene. Let me tell you some of these international monster hunters are just as kick-ass as our favorite Monster Hunter International crew. A new American based monster hunter team also enters the story; they are PT (Paranormal Tactical) and they cause a lot of trouble for MHI.
All of our MHI favorites are here, with a couple new MHI recruits along for the ride as well. Earl’s girlfriend, Heather, even makes an appearance. I hope we see more of her in future books. Owen’s brother Mosh also plays a big role in this story.
The enemy they are facing off with is an especially evil one. This enemy can bring a person’s nightmares to life. When all the Monster Hunter conference attendees are trapped in one hotel together...well that makes for quite a dangerous situation. All these Monster Hunters have some pretty awful nightmares.
Seeing what nightmares the Hunters face-off with tells us a lot about their characters. We learn a lot more about what Holly had to endure too.
As you can imagine from the above there is a ton of monster fighting in this book. Some of the monsters are pretty disturbing. There is a lot of gore and violence and swearing; but if you are a fan of this series that’s nothing new. A lot more gun-talk again in this book book compared to the previous one.
Corriea does an excellent job of having a story that is resolved in this book (taking out the nightmare fiend) and tying it in with the overall story. We learn a lot more about task force Unicorn, which was mention in the previous book, and a lot more about what it means for Owen to be the Chosen One. All of these stories are building towards something big and this is the first book where that is really brought out into the open and discussed.
Overall a spectacular continuation of this series. This is a wonderful action packed story with some great new characters. There is an excellent story tied up in this book, but we also get more of the overall story about Owen being the Chosen One and the rising monster activity. Just a perfectly balanced book. I really enjoyed it a lot. Highly recommended to those who like action-packed urban fantasy and don’t mind learning a lot about guns. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Everything hear is great fun. The Narrator is the best ever. The story line is twisting and turning and concludes well. Listen to it for just a stress relieving escape.

IF YOU SPEND A LOT OFTIME IN TRAFFIC AS I DO - I recommend the audio productions being produced by Audible Frontiers and narrated by Oliver Wyman.

Another Fun Listen!
I have enjoyed all of the MHI (Monster Hunter's International) books on audible. Wyman is solid in narration, it's like listening to old friends when he voices the characters. Of course these are completely far fetched and all out monster fun fest but somehow Correia and Wyman make it so matter of fact in this story world. I think you could fully enjoy this book even if you haven't read/heard the others in the series. I think all of the MHI books could stand alone, although it has been fun listening in order and keeping up with their adventures. I hope for many more in this series.
