Publisher's summary

A Cuban Treasure

The loss of human ethics stands out among the many misfortunes that 65 years of Castrism brought to Cuba. To find a Cuban who writes from decency, human values, and gratitude, far from the justified resentment millions of us carry on our shoulders, has found El Dorado.
This compilation of short stories by Miguel Grillo Morales is also a time capsule for future Cubans to learn how we used to be and how we can still be if we just let our ancestors' values be heard. In its pages, you will find fun and painful nostalgia, losses and gains, grief and love, innocence and maturity. We see the child, the adolescent, the man, and the adult who traveled the world to end up recreating, in his third or fourth exile, the sounds and fragrances of his native "batey". Not an ounce of resentment. The author learned a lesson from each setback.
Being a passionate consumer of audiobooks myself, I also especially praise the workmanship of this one. The narration is impeccable, without imitating accents. The music, specially written for each story, is the perfect bridge to maintain the aroma of the previous tale and prepare us for the next.
If you want to know how Cuba sounds, no matter where her children thrive or fail, you must read -or listen to- Muerte en el Palmetto y otros cuentos.
