Publisher's summary

Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this new series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.

The picturesque village of Bunburry is about to be enhanced by the late Mrs Benson's mansion being transformed into a luxury hotel. But when the project is sabotaged, who is responsible? Careless workers, a disgruntled rival, a vengeful ex-husband, Mrs Benson's criminal nephew, or Mrs Benson's troubled ghost? After damage comes death, and it's up to amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister, his friends Liz and Marge, and police constable Emma Hollis to uncover the truth.

Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series "Piece of Cake". He is also the lead in the BBC series "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries", based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audio books to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

Love visiting Bunburry

The story only gets 4 stars because it jumped to the (surprise) conclusion so fast that it gave me whiplash. Not the best conclusion to what had been an enjoyable ride. Losing respect for Alfie, too, letting everyone, especially Emma, impose on him so very much. I understand being a gentleman, but I hate seeing a male doormat. Set some boundaries, man!

Wonderful Cozy Mystery Series

I love the characters in Marchmont’s books. My favorite was adding young Noah into the story line.
This 11th in the series had a marvelous surprise ending! Looking forward to subsequent visits to Bunburry.
Nathaniel Parker does an outstanding job narrating.

Can’t wait for the next!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!! I loved getting to know Oscar and Alfie better with each new story. The old ladies are so funny and I love the new characters who will be staples in Bunbury with the new hotel (at least I hope they become staples - I want to see how they do in Bunbury.)

voice talent + story + fab characters

I love a good series, and this is a great series. The biggest call-out is the voice talent. He does each accent spot on. From London to Yorkshire, Wales, and the Cotswald country accents. A. Maze. Ing!

Excellent. One of the best Bunburry's.

This particular book really moved the story forward and revealed the truth about many events that had occurred in previous books.. Fun read. With lots more to come.

Ready to move to Bunberry

If Helena Marchmont could write a Bunberry mystery each and every day, I’d gladly listen to them seven days a week. And how is this not a TV series yet?
