Publisher's summary

You were once the bane of my existence … and now, you are the center of it.

Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark’s seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven’t ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla’s midst who don’t believe her ascent to power was earned.

As certain death races toward Lightlark and secrets from the past begin to unravel, Isla must weigh her responsibility to her people against the whims of the most dangerous traitor of all: her heart

Amazing sequel

Betrayal, action, mystery, romance, and loved that it wasn’t predictable and had me utterly shocked so many times! Loved the first book but this was just captivating and gives you a much deeper dive into the characters histories. Definitely recommend!

What a ride!!

The first book was good and this was great! Reminded me of when I first read Iron Flame…including not being okay at the end. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Grim better get his Justice

I'll try to come back and edit this.

I was SO pumped for this to be released.

I'm so ready to see Isla get her memories back because my boy Grim deserved better.
I'm on 24 right now, and it's been slow so far, I hope it picks up. -Nov 10th

Nice read but predictible

Reflecting on the romantic developments of the series, particularly between Isla and Oro, I found their relationship less compelling than Isla's connection with Grim, especially in the first book. While there was some improvement in the sequel, the frequent "Before" chapters often reinforced my initial impressions.
The narrative seemed to lack substantial challenges or elements of surprise, especially towards the end where the resolution felt somewhat expected and a logical response to the ongoing conflict. She ended up doing what one would expect her to do given her situation. It is only frustrating she only considered doing it in the last seconds of the book.

Despite these aspects, the book was an enjoyable read overall, offering one or two significant revelations towards the end that had my jaw drop.
However, much of the plot felt very predictable. The voice acting was impressive, adding depth to the storytelling experience.
Although, the portrayal of older male characters occasionally disrupted the immersive quality of the fantasy world. This, of course, is not a critique of the voice actor's talent but rather an observation of the character portrayal.

Wow!

I love this world so much, and was torn between the love triangle because the connections and emotions were so well done. My heart can’t wait to finish the story!

Just wow

This book was just as good as the Lightlark but more gut wrenching. The author so patiently and artfully builds a world around vivid characters. She’s an incredible writer.
