Publisher's summary

This is a short story intended for my audience who has been asking me for short, sick bedtime stories.

Jake has nearly everything he wants from life. He has the good looks. He has the money. He has the fame. He has the model wife. He has the booming film career and popularity. The only thing he doesn't seem to have is the luck, and soon he finds himself without arms or legs....

Matt Shaw takes you on a short, disturbing journey of messed up love in this new story from his infamous F*cked-Up Shorts range.

Expect the unexpected.

Matt Shaw's Little Nugget of Craziness

Anyone who knows Matt Shaw's work knows his stories are bizarre and disturbing, but even his die-hard fans may not expect what Nugget delivers.

Jake is one of the top actors in the world. He's rich, has a beautiful model wife and has everything he's ever wanted. His life forever changes when he gets into a horrible car accident. Not the man he used to be, he tries to make his wife leave him and contemplates suicide.

As the story progresses, it gets more and more messed up and the ending will leave you with your jaw on the floor.

Chris Barnes narrates Nugget with the emotion and professionalism I've come to expect. It takes a great narrator to suck me into a story from the first page, and Barnes consistently delivers. He loves what he does and because of his passion, you can't help but love every story he performs.

If you love weird, heartbreaking and enthralling tales, Nugget is for you.

Not His Best

Not by a long shot! I’ve read a few of his short stories so I thought I’d try one out in audible. I’m not sure if it was the story or not being able to control the all the sounds from ambiance to voices etc, or maybe it was a combination of both but whatever the reason I’ll keep reading his stories but I’ll never buy another one in audible.

powerfully transmits a lot of emotions

Jake has been leading a successful life. He is a rich actor with a beautiful wife, but one day he has a tragic car accident and both his arms and legs need to be amputated.

This is a just story, just under one hour duration. Even though being brief, it powerfully transmits a lot of emotions. I am not going to deny that it is very disturbing and not for the faint of heart, but I found the premises and development quite original and strong to not leave anybody indifferent.

As it is a short story it is expected that the characters are not very developed, but the tale speaks for itself, and we will get more than we expect from it. The end is completely unexpected, and I think everybody will try to understand what pushed Jake's wife to do what she did. It is so disturbing that it will give you nightmares.

It took me some minutes to get used to the Scottish accent, but I have to say that Chris Barnes rightly delivered the characters emotions and transmitted the darkness of the story. I would like to listen to other books narrated by him.

I would recommend this book to anyone into horror and weird stories, with the positive aspect that it will make a quick listen, ideal when you have little time to spare.

Mind blowing ending!

I expected a little more sex, but was pleasantly surprised by how much this book makes you think. I'm still digesting the surprise ending, it's a must read and not as r-rated as you might expect.
