Publisher's summary

The last man Judith Worth wants to see again is Christian Trent, the Marquess of Ashford - the man who spent summers at her family home, who kissed her one magical night...and then heartlessly ruined her father. But when a tricky business matter arises, he's the only one she can ask for help. With any luck, he'll engage a servant to take care of the matter, and she won't even have to talk with him.

But Ashford has never forgotten Judith. He knows she will never forgive him for what he's done, but when offered the chance to assist her, he arrives in person. His memory of Judith may have haunted him, but it pales in comparison to the reality of the vivacious, beautiful woman he rediscovers. Throughout his life, he has always done what is correct. But now, he finds himself doing something utterly wrong...falling in love with the one woman he can never have.

Excellent

the story is well written, and make you regret when you have to stop listening.

An OK series opener

Not the best by the author, but a good opener to an obvious new series.

What a delightful surprise

Courtney Milan is a new author for me and how happy I am to have found her. Of course, Rosalyn Landor is an old friend who has an amazing ability to make characters come alive. In this book, Ms Milan spins a tale that will make you cry and laugh and to feel!!! Christian and Judith, the main characters , are funny and intense. Judith is independent and strong...sometimes too much so. For eight years, she has given up her life and happiness to care for her siblings. Christian has fought his own endless battles. Finally they come together again....but it's rocky. I loved this book

This one was a bit slow going in the beginning even thought to give up on it but...Really glad I stuck with it. Now to wait for the next one about Lady Camilla.

I loved it!

Once Upon a Marquess was a great story. It was rich with every emotion. It questioned right and wrong, treason, honor, addiction, loss of fortune, family, marriage, friendship and capability to survive whatever your circumstance. However, it did so with great characters, humor, contemplation and a great story. This is a stand alone book but I must see how the series progresses. So onto to Volume two! Narrator Rosalyn Landor was perfection, as always.

Sweet story without much heat.

This is a sweet story with interesting characters but the romance is tame and without much steam. A bit predictable and drawn out but the narration is superb.

Good Read-Happy Ending

The story starts out a little slow but that might be because I had not listened to previous stories. I enjoyed this audible, especially Rosalyn Landor. I look for books narrated by her.

3 1/2 Stars - Nice enough but not impressive good...

3 1/2 Stars - Nice enough but not impressive good as a CM rightly should be. Luckily is this audio-narrator fabulous and simply perfect.

It is sad to write about a Milan historical but maybe is "Once Upon a Marquess" a bit too casual gray, pale and sad for me. Maybe was it filled with too much depressing facts, lacking in the truly (shimmering grand pink) romantic part and too much a story about day to day problems for a tired older poor sister. There are a lot of problems, hate, trouble, kittens, siblings, grieving, old depressing stuff and maybe also too many back flashes for my taste. I expected more. I know I rightly can.

Finally: I looooove to listen to Ms Rosalyn Landor, I sincerely admire Ms Courtney Milan's great writing AND I will continue this new CM series. A promising start. I'm sure there will be future great books.

Theres a lid dor every pot

It took just a moment to understand Christian and Judith, but once I did, I realized their silly, funny, off kilter nature personalities were perfect for each other. This was a delightful story. I especially liked the dialogue the H/H had as the swans. I do similar things myself so it ws funny to see it in a story. Good job.

Not your typical H & H - And well written.

Two people grappling with moral dilemmas not of their making. The father's treason, the brother (& friend's) complicity. The hero's oddities, the heroine's obligations. The humor they shared was so true to the way lovers create their own language. And beautiful narrated by the brilliant Rosalyn Landor.
