Narration

When the series changed Narrators I was not a fan. After listening to three books I have become used to the difference in the readers voice and I think he has gotten the hang of the flow of the story and the characters a little better. I still miss the narrator from books one and two but this new one has grown on me.

great

Great story. Wonderful world building that is well displayed with no info dumps. Despite doing my initial listen of this story without having read or listened to the prior books in the series I was still able to easily follow along and understand the story with the sprinkling of relevant details if prior events throughout the story. Good prose, the descriptions really painting the picture of events in your mind. Beautifully built rising action and climax that kept you on the edge of your seat and interested until it culminated in the final events of the story. Great use of plot devices, such as the tarot cards and portals, as well as excellent foreshadowing. Book 5 had few instances of disjointed events however it was smoothed out quickly in each instance, book six had no disjointed issues. Having gone back and read the previous books before doing my second pass through if this one I can confidently say these books are excellent though 5 was slightly lower quality than the previous 4 or even book 6 but it's still a great addition to a great series.
Narrator was good. He had clear and concise enunciation as well as good pacing. Good audio quality. Good vocal range.

Good Series

Book 5 Nazi Gold
Historian and Journalist finding old objects and what that leads them into. I thought interesting and like the two main characters. Good plot with the use of tarot cards.
Great settings, good narration as all of his books are

Narration Unbearable

There are some audio books that are just not well matched with the narrator. I’m sorry to say. But when they switched narrators in books 3-4, I still hung on for 5-6. No improvement. It is narrated as if the story is being told to children. It is obviously not a children’s story.

That said, I believe I will continue the series in print.
