Publisher's summary

From Marc Levy, the most-read French author alive today, comes a modern-day love story between a famous actress hiding in Paris and a bestselling writer lying to himself. They knew their friendship was going to be complicated, but love - and the City of Lights - just might find a way.

On the big screen, Mia plays a woman in love. But in real life, she's an actress in need of a break from her real-life philandering husband - the megastar who plays her romantic interest in the movies. So she heads across the English Channel to hide in Paris behind a new haircut, fake eyeglasses, and a waitressing job at her best friend's restaurant.

Paul is an American author hoping to recapture the fame of his first novel. When his best friend surreptitiously sets him up with Mia through a dating website, Paul and Mia's relationship status is "complicated."

Even though everything about Paris seems to be nudging them together, the two lonely ex-pats resist, concocting increasingly far-fetched strategies to stay "just friends." A feat easier said than done, as fate has other plans in store. Is true love waiting for them in a postscript?

Entertaining

Slow start but this light, dialogue driven book is fun escape reading. I was a couple chapters in when I realized I had read it before but stayed with it for the second time. I recommend jumping on it while you can get the " Kindle Unlimited " deal.

loved story

fun story with unexpected twists. narration was stiff, not like other audio books I've listened to sort of robotic . otherwise five stars all around. would love to see a romance story between the character artist and Daisy for a future book. also loved how it touched on the plight of the North Korean people as well.

Light but delightful

The audible reader made this delightful story most enjoyable. A perfect summer read made more interesting by a very good interpretation of the main characters.

Better towards the end

The author was slow in developing the characters, making them appear shallow and stereotypical (like the actress who takes off without telling anyone because of her husband's affair with his co-star). There is also a caricaturist who occasionally pops up in scenes but serves no real purpose. The story really starts in the middle and the last third is worth reading.

It Was Alright

So that was an alright read I guess .. the idea of the story was really good and that mainly what kept me going, we have our two main characters Mia and Paul who happen to meet in Paris where both of them need friendship and the story pretty much picks up from there
I liked Paul way more than Mia but I was more interested in Daisy (Mia's friend) and I wish if she found something to make her happy .. also that plot twist in the end was funny but also deep, my main issue with the book was the lack of feelings of the characters specially the "romance" .. so yeah it was ok but not the best thing I read

The narration was stiff but it wasn't bad, so reading the physical book might be a better idea

Good listen!!

A witty short story, narrated beautifully, though with a few unnecessary twists and turns. An enjoyable story nevertheless....
