I just finished listening to Personal Finance Secrets for Teens and Young Adults, and I think this audiobook is a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to get a head start on managing money. As a teen or young adult, learning about finances can feel overwhelming, but this book breaks it down in such an easy and relatable way that it feels like you're embarking on an exciting adventure rather than just another boring lesson.

“None of us are born with financial skills”

The first thing you’ll notice about this title is the wonderful narration that gets an educational point across while remaining interesting to listen to and engaging.

We start off the intro with the story of Morgan, who after going on a trip, realizes she could have budgeted better and the listener is met with real life situations that focus on things like budgeting and interest payments. Morgan has monthly meetings with parents to sort of financial planning, she is lucky, because not all of us get to have the type of family members that educate us on this stuff! And to that point, I love the acknowledgment that not all parents like to share the family financial situation with every family member! This is totally my story and I had to learn about this stuff way too late. (Wish I had this book back then, lol!)


Another great takeaway from this book: “None of us are born with financial skills, we have to learn!” This is so true because we all have to get there some way. And we all know people who are great with money and people who are not so great with it. What side of the fence do you want to be on?

I love the point the author makes that you don’t have to have large income to understand how to work with money efficiently, in fact, in my opinion, it’s way better to learn to budget on limited funds. Listeners are met with smart advice on what they can do with allowence, part time jobs, and whatever scratch they can get.


Avoid all the back and forth, contradictory advice out there and learn to be confident within yourself about money, that’s what I say! And this book is a fantastic place to get started.
