Not bad, well worth a listen.

I liked the premise of this so was quite happy to pick it up. Just over 4 hours and I knew I could get through it in the one day. So that was a bonus as I like shorter works as much as the epic long ones. :)

I have to admit even though the premise was interesting, there was a lot of confusion in here. Mostly I think that was because the MC had no memories, and a lot of what she told us was as it came back to her.

However. there were a couple of things that left me with a head scratch... the fact that the 'safe house' really isn't a safe house, and the other candidates for the experiments seem to be able to find them so easy. The fact that Ari's brother and sister are there again that they could find Ari and the others, but not them... Certain writing POV shifts, where the MC tells us things she can't possibly know or see. Just took me out of the story quite a bit. The fact that there are POV shifts to Mark, about 10 chapters in and again towards the end where Ari is unconscious again. I believe with some more planning this might have been easier on the ears. It came as a bit of a shock, although it helped at the time while Ari was 'dead' kinda thing. It was jarring to me as a reader/listener being in someone else's head for a short period of time.

The idea of the bunker isn't something that I would consider either. I would hate that. And I'm surprised that they end up in there, because eeek, glad that Ari really is out of it and when she wakes they can go back out side.

I think this was a good start to a series, the characters were interesting and so were the gifts, not quite the usual take on this, and that was what kept me listening.

I admit I also struggled with the characters here, The voices were to me much younger than I think the characters were actually supposed to be. Especially her best friend Kari/Karly. Or is Trey her best friend. I think this girl is pretty confused with what and who she wants in her life and then it confuses me too. Just a little squeaky at times, and the guys were gruff. At some points I almost stopped listening. I am glad I didn't though, there were some very unique twists to the story. And the ending is worth waiting for. I do look forward to more from this author.
