About this listen

Fantasy's favourite folk plunge into their sixth adventure in global bestseller Markus Heitz's Return of the Dwarves!

Hundreds of cycles have passed in Girdlegard since Tungdil Goldhand vanished. The dwarf Goïmron works as a gem carver in the city of Mallenias Watch. He is particularly fascinated by the old times, the great times of the five dwarf tribes, and so spends his spare time searching the markets for records and artefacts for clues about their proud history.

And then Goïmron comes across an extraordinary book. The wealth of detail it contains leaves no doubt that the book must have been written by the heroic Tungdil Goldhand himself. But, impossibly, the last entry seems to be recent...

When Goïmron sets out in search of the legendary dwarf, he and his troop of companions soon find themselves in the middle of ancient intrigues and brutal power struggles between ruthless humans, mysterious albae - and dragons.

Once again, the land of Girdlegard needs the wisdom, humour, fighting spirit and stubbornness of the dwarves. Heroes old and new will accept the challenge...but will the dwarves rise again?

Another great story. Can’t wait for the second half.

I love the way the author introduced a new hero to us so there should be mini more dwarf books

Author once again spins a great story

Although I enjoyed the performance of the original narration , this new gentleman is quite good. His voice is easy to listen to but doesn’t have the range of characters in my opinion. Well worth the purchase and can’t wait for the next book to be released.

solid fantasy

great overall book, I like that it's about new characters but still has the same lore and nods to past books it's a solid addition to the series and I'll be reading the next one as well!

Underdog character and unique creatures.

Disliked a few slow zones or when bad characters are so much more overpowering than good characters. I liked the sense of humor. The use of gemstones. I wish more creators had an intelligent side and that there were people who could communicate with them. Maybe the chance to breed unicorns, Pegasus, hellfire steeds and winged creatures. Why don’t elves show the cunning of the altar elves, they always seem downgraded. Why aren’t human mages more intelligent or those rare human strategists being developed. Maybe a few love interests some of which don’t survive but their children do. Variety of the elve types with certain strengths. Woodland, mount, desert, snow, seaside. Where are the lizard people, nomes, pixies, bugbears, wraiths, the undead, griffins, large eagles, dragons, mermaids, harpies, spiders, slime molds, panthers,
I liked the less pitchy male voice or narration. Women’s sole voices can get to high and pitchy to listen to, although multiple characters are ok as long as there not shrill. There needs to more emissaries stationed at each of the cultures learning the language and culture to facilitate aid and intricate personalities. More traps, singing, fighting styles, foods, magic pieces (hats, rings, figurines, armor, jewelry, eye patches, artificial limbs, what about insect monsters fighting those above or on the planet. Elementals, for forges or the different environments. Class of humans that have an intelligent pet as a life long companion to assist against the altar. Religious monks or martial artists to counter the altar, those with skills or Devine blessing from God to keep the evil in check. Sorry my imagination goes on and on. I do enjoy a connection to a pet or race that’s different from my own in addition to a love interest of my own. They should challenge one another in a good way. All good stories end with the triumph over evil even if some are lost along the way, but not to many otherwise you lose your anchor points to hold the series together. Or maybe some are disfigured, or Changed somehow.
