About this listen

A nice, normal life. Is that too much to ask? For Riley Thorn it is.

Divorced. Broke. Living with a pack of elderly roommates. And those hallucinations she’s diligently ignoring? Her tarot card-dealing mom is convinced they’re clairvoyant visions.

Just when things can’t get worse, a so-hot-it-should-be-illegal private investigator shows up on her doorstep looking for a neighbor...who turns up murdered.

Nick Santiago doesn’t play well with others. Unless the “others” are of the female persuasion. Wink. He’s a rebel, a black sheep, a man who prefers a buffet of options to being stuck with the same entrée every night, if you catch his drift.

When the pretty, possibly psychic Riley lands at the top of the list of suspects, Nick volunteers to find out whodunit. Only because he likes solving mysteries not because he wants to flex his heroic muscles for the damsel in distress.

All they have to do is figure out who pulled the trigger, keep the by-the-book detective with a grudge at bay, and deal with a stranger claiming he was sent to help Riley hone her psychic gifts. All before the killer discovers she’s a loose end that requires snipping.

Lots of Fun!

I enjoyed this book about a family of psychics and murder. The characters were hilarious and eccentric, the story line held my attention throughout the entire book and the romance was sweet. The ending was good and it left an opening for another book, I hope. Nathalie Duke was exceptional as the narrator and I hung on her every word. This was a long audio book and I loved, it's well worth a credit.

Get ready to laugh until you cry or wet your pants!!

Say “hello” to your new Rom Com Family and favorite book couple! Ms Score not only knocked it out of the ballpark but out of the atmosphere!! I started laughing at the beginning and laughed until the end. Great dialogue, great characters, wonderful storyline, and Riley and Nick just capped it all off with a gun and love!!!Cannot wait to listen to “Corpse in the Closet”!! So, Audible- GET IT RECORDED ASAP!!!!

Reminds me a lot of Stephanie Plum stories

I got a kick out of this book because I'm from Pennsylvania and the author brings up many locations I'm familiar with...she even mentions my university.
This book is a lot like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. head strong woman. hot boyfriend. in over her head. old people she cares about. and losing cars.
A llight enjoyable read

Mixed Bag

Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door is book 1 in the Riley Thorn series. This book is a mixed bag for me. There were parts I really liked and others that I really didn't care for. This book did not grab me from the beginning. I put it down a couple times before I was able to really get into it. I liked the premise, I enjoyed the characters, the setting was fun, especially Riley living in a house of senior citizens. I enjoyed the mystery, the humor, and the psychic visions. There were just a couple of main issues. First - some of this was so over the top that it took away from being able to enjoy it. I am mainly referring to a politician chasing people down the street with a gun and firing upon them like that is totally normal. I am all for suspending belief in fiction, but I want it to be for situations where things can be overlooked, not things where given all other circumstances in the book it renders the situation completely unbelievable and ridiculous. Next, this book was longer than it needed to be. There were parts that kind of dragged on. Those things aside, I am still interested in continuing this series. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for Riley and Nick. The narration was good. Overall, I give this book 3 stars.

Glad I took a chance on this one

This was a spontaneous purchase, and I have to admit a few minutes into the first chapter I was wondering if I regretted it as I am not usually a fan of psychic-type stuff in books. But this book was hilarious. The characters were so great - their quirky traits shining through, and the pace moved along well. A fun combination of suspenseful mystery with amazing chemistry kept me listening all the way through. Well done.

Loved it

Great story, alot of fun, secondary characters are a hoot. Our MC is trying to have a normal life and she’s got nothing even close to normal happening. There’s a PI she happens upon and the chaos and butterflies explode. Looking forward to the next one.
