Publisher's summary

Eric can't remember the recurring dream that keeps waking him in the middle of the night with an overwhelming urge to leave, yet he spends each day feeling as if he desperately needs to be somewhere. With no idea how to cure himself of this odd compulsion, he decides to let it take its course and go for a drive, hoping that once he proves to himself that there is nowhere to go, he can return to his normal life. Instead, he finds himself hurled headlong into a nightmare adventure across a fractured Wisconsin as the dream reveals itself one heart-pounding detail at a time.

Highly recommend this book

I loved this book and have discovered a new author. Unlike a lot of what I have read. Kept me guessing and very interested the whole time. Enjoyed the audio version.

interesting, different

Started off so great. quirky banter between the characters. Kept me interested, and wondering what was happening. I did start loosing a little interest towards the end, some of it seemed to drag out a little. Somewhat repetitive from the different characters that joined in. Still a good read. If your looking for a different kind of mystery, this is a good one.

Living a Dream Can Be Very Strange

Rushed is a story about a man who has a dream, one so compelling that he must obey the strong feeling to go somewhere. That starts him on a journey where dreams and nightmares collide with reality.

In essence, this is a story about wandering, in search of something yet unknown. While many of the scenes are interesting and even poignant, there is a detached feeling to the overall narrative. Then in the climactic scene, it becomes confusing, disjointed, and lacking in a feeling of finality. The final scene seems to imply some "inside knowledge" that I must have missed along the way.

Even so, it is enjoyable enough, and well narrated. Rushed is a decent book to spend some time with. Perhaps others can understand what I missed.

Different from what I usually listen to.

What did you love best about Rushed?

It was DIFFERENT!

Would you recommend Rushed to your friends? Why or why not?

No. Most of my friends don't like what I like.

What does Eric Michael Summerer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Kind of, I found it mildly disturbing.

Any additional comments?

I love books that have different periods, alternate realities, superpowers, something 'more.' I am not a fan of unnatural scary. This not necessarily a 'scary' story, I just found the imagery of the animals weird and disturbing, (but that is partly due to my imagination).

Enjoyed it, but

I listened to book one and see that only one and two are on Audible. I hesitate to continue unless all three are available. :(

Amazing!!

I loved this. I will be reading more of this author. And I hope some more of his books will be read by the same performer because he was great as well!

Great Listen

Where does Rushed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Would not say the absolute best listen, but was a very good listen

What about Eric Michael Summerer’s performance did you like?

I really liked how he portrayed each character. The personality of each character came through with his different inflections of each.

If you could rename Rushed, what would you call it?

Dream Compulsion

Any additional comments?

This book is by no means one that will keep you awake at night with things that go bump, but, it does let your imagination run wild with the description of the creatures Eric comes across in his day of travel. The humor between the main character Eric and wife is very entertaining. I look forward to the next in the series.

Just ok

I felt like the story was just ok. I finished it because I was curious about where the absurd storyline was going to take me. It probably would have been better if there was a better narrator. Idk if it was computer automated or what, but the narration was bad. My husband walked in and said, "I don't know how you can listen to that robot voice"

The conversations between the main character and his wife and brother didn't seem very plausible either. Everything was always sarcastic. They were never stood about anything even though he was going on a crazy adventure. They seemed to take it all in stride. Their conversations were just weird to me
