Publisher's summary

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the best-selling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison - even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life.

When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Complex, intriguing storytelling

I waited eagerly for the second book and now I've got to wait eagerly for the third.

Meyer puts together a fast-paced story filled with details about the characters in a believably constructed future-ish world. I loved all the information about the science and technology of this alternate world.

Of course this story isn't exactly new, but the telling doesn't seem to be forecast from the outset. We know who will encounter one another in the future, but we don't know exactly how their story will unfold.

slow start

This book has a sloe start. I wondered where all the characters from the first book were. Once it gets going this is a great book. Listened to it in two days.

excellent performance

I really enjoyed the story. Not as riveting as Cinder but still good. The vocal performance was excellent and I believe that more than just the words moved me to tears at times. can't wait to get to the next book.

excellent read

This series is very enjoyable for teens or adults, a different twist on beloved fairytales. The author mixed little red riding hood and Cinderella comfortably keeping with a futuristic theme. I love it, and have read the series several times.

Fun

I wouldn't say it's the most complex book but it's a fun read that made me happy. Love the series. Performance was quite good too.
