Publisher's summary
An endless quest for hope through one great mystery. This is Second Chance. A debut novel for listeners of science fiction, intricate stories and, above all, original worlds.
Everyone wanted to start over, until there was no one left at all. A man and his young daughter search for answers, hoping that one day the sun will finally set. They remember little of their past, but slowly find more pieces of the puzzle. Take a journey with them beyond the boundaries of imagination as time and space change their meaning.
The novel Second Chance takes you to both our past and the distant future. It is a story about the irrepressible desire for a better life and the spark of hope that each of us has within us.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Three months ago, Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees. At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

For centuries Elves healed humans. Men, women, and children’s diseases and wounds would disappear after being touched by an Elven hand. Then came the fall of Mempacton and the ancient order of knights who protected the Elves. A ruthless Emperor seized control of the lands and ordered Elves to be hunted. For the Emperor and a select few of his henchmen had found out that drinking Elf blood reverses aging. Immortality could now be achieved by humans.
