Publisher's summary

What will America look like at the end of the 21st century? Will it be a "democracy" ruled by radical, American liberals, an autocracy ruled by Russian communists, or a theocracy ruled by Islamic extremists? Robert Chandler poses this question in his brand-new book, Shadow World: Resurgent Russia, The New Global Left, and Radical Islam - and suggests some alarming answers. Every day, American culture is being undermined by communism, socialism, and radical Islam through seemingly benign institutions and ideologies like NGOs, the UN, liberalism, and fundamentalist sects. Sounds crazy? Not so fast. What better way to subvert America than through the institutions she relies on and the ideologies she promotes? In Shadow World, Chandler shows to devastating effect how Russian communists, leftist ideologies, and Islamic extremists are locked in a geo-political struggle for not only America, but the world.

Editorial reviews

Comparing current American thought regarding foreign threats to France’s foolhardy belief in the inviolability of the Maginot line in WWII, former Colonel and military strategist Robert W. Chandler tries to provoke his American audience out of complacency and into vigilance. Performed by seasoned actor Alpha Trivette, Shadow World insists that America is at war, whether she knows it or not, with three violent, powerful, and increasingly linked anti-American forces: leftism in Latin America, radical geopolitical Islam, and resurgent Russia, which Chandler argues is not actually post-communist after all. Shadow World makes a case to the listener that America is in clear and present danger and that our failure to take action against our enemies is itself an action of great peril.

The Book That Tells the Big Picture

Here we are almost 10 yeas later and isn’t it interesting to see just how much of his theory has played out.
A bit verbose and repetitive but he does so to drive home his point. Every statement is backed with direct reference. Yes, he names names.
I hope someone with similar insight and resources for information gathering will come along and write a sequel. Would be a most important contribution.

Terrible narration

What disappointed you about Shadow World?

This is absolutely the worst narration ever. Period. Inappropriate pauses in EVERY sentence. Extremely hard to even follow the story. I could only listen to the book for 90 minutes over about five days and it drove me crazy. I have never felt that way the hundreds and hundreds of hours of audio books I have heard. Take a hint. Skip the audio. The topic is very interesting so I went to the library.

What other book might you compare Shadow World to and why?

Close to other true classic spy stuff published in the last 10 years, verifying other information already published.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alpha Trivette?

Tim Weiner.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger at the insiders who are destroying the USA.

Any additional comments?

Good book if you read it yourself.

Tin foil hat reading

Shadow war was a big disappointment. The book is basically - a wild conspiracy theorist broad brush stroke extravaganza of pseudo global geopolitics. The fact that the author and unfortunately many of his readers believe or find it easier to believe that the world works as if there is a “planned agenda” run by “evil forces”, shows the naivety and frankly the laziness of the writer on what should have been a fascinating subject. Terrible references. I mean Bill O’reilly is sighted here, come on - he is hardly a font of knowledge on the world. So it shows where this weirdness is coming from. The book soon degenerates into an unbalanced opinion piece not based on facts, that by chapter three tuns into unreadable drivel. I returned it.
