Resumen del Editor

From New York Times bestselling author Bernard Cornwell, the second installment in the world-renowned Sharpe series, chronicling the rise of Richard Sharpe, a Private in His Majesty’s Army at the siege of Seringapatam.

"The greatest writer of historical adventures today." —Washington Post

Richard Sharpe. Soldier, hero, rogue—the man you always want on your side. Born in poverty, he joined the army to escape jail and climbed the ranks by sheer brutal courage. He knows no other family than the regiment of the 95th Rifles, whose green jacket he proudly wears.

Very enjoyable

I have always Cornwell‘s stories. Sharpe and the Saxon series are the best. Well worth the time to listen.

Sharpe!!

Cornwell is spot on in his stories. What a perfect follow up to Patrick O’Brien and Aubrey and Maturain

Sharpe learns he is a fighting soldier

Terrific read. Following Sharpe as he wonders about his skills and his conduct in a forthcoming battle. And then the wonderful scene where he defends Wellesly - such a magnificent story teller!

Colorful battle scenes and and personal involvement of Wellesley

Colorful battle scenes and and personal involvement of Wellesley. Seeing the Duke of Wellington early in his career even as a fantasy presentation was fun. Sharpe manages to outdo himself again and again. I’d forgotten how much time he spent in India. Since Dobbs still lives there must be one more India episode. When I read these books Cornwell always included an afterword about the historical battle. Wish those were here.

Not Enough Sharpe

Too much of the story is taken up with a detailed accounting of a battle, which at times was tedious.

Excellent story

Excellent voice acting with an excellent story. The first novel is a little slow to start but the stories pick up nicely. Enjoy!

Great book

Great entry and a great narrator, though I miss the historical footnotes from the author at the end.

Great Stuff!

I can't believe i haven't jumped on listening to these books sooner. Frankly, the books have only one issue in my opinion, that being the battle sequences are sometimes hard for me to follow. That said, i love the voice actor and narrator. He does such a great job voicing sharpe, and everyone else. Truly very very good.

It gives an interesting view into a rarely (atleast for me) seen period of history and warfare, with a great story, likeable cast of characters and a main character you cannot help but root for. Villians on either side of the conflict are fun, but i do note that they felt a tad bit more flat than the villains in the first novel. Still, a hearty recommendation from me.

Great plot, Solid characters and long term character development. Quality writing. Can’t ask for more than this. On to book 3!
