Publisher's summary

Meet the elites.

They think you're stupid. They think all freedom-loving Americans are stupid. They think patriotism is stupid. They think churchgoing is stupid. They think flag-flying is stupid. They despise families with more than two children. They are sure that where we live - anywhere but near or in a few major cities - is an insipid cultural wasteland.

They think your SUV is evil - although theirs is absolutely necessary. They think owning a gun is criminal. They think George Bush is an idiot. They even think it's wrong for us to do what we have to do to protect our nation and our loved ones. Worst of all, they think our abiding belief in the goodness of America and its founding principles is naïve and misguided.

But in this refreshing and blisteringly insightful look at the elites, Laura Ingraham reveals that it is they, not us, who are pickled in prejudice, morally blind, and outrageously hypocritical. In a word, it is they who are stupid. Ingraham exposes the outrageous howlers and muddled thinking peddled by a rogue's gallery of Hollywood celebs, media yuppies, trial lawyers, multiculturalists, God-haters, and race-relations bullies who are exalted as heroes by the elite.

Ingraham unmasks the shallowness of elite thinking everywhere it is found: in politics, the media, the ivory tower, arts and entertainment, and even business and international organizations. Nor does she restrict her skewering of the elite only to its natural home, the Democratic Party - she ably zeroes in on elite enclaves within the GOP as well.

Laura first woman president!

I love this book and more importantly this person. She is what making America great is all about. First you start out with good people and reason things out. This is Laura . Our constitution has "In God We Trust" created a clear map for us us to follow. President Laura Ingraham could Keep us on a Steady path in the Pursuit of happiness. Something that can not be bought for People with Politicians buying their vote. They need go to Washington and be of Service for 1 or 2 Terms then go back to their Pursuit of happiness not power.

Distractingly horrific narration

How could the performance have been better?

The narration was, bluntly, the worst that I've ever heard. Disjointed and jerky, Ms. Novotny's narration was a huge distraction.

Read and learn why liberals and Europeans envy us

Well written, informative, gives a perspective that helps understand the virulence against every Republican liberals espouse

Love Laura, Hated this Audiobook

What disappointed you about Shut Up & Sing?

Flat out worst audio recording ever. I'm not a technophile by any stretch, and even my untrained ear could hear the lousy dubbing going on. You know when they show movies on television, and awkwardly dub out the curse words? Exactly like that. And in the most random of places. They didn't even bother to match the narrators - the dubs were clearly different people reading. It was so distracting that I had to stop a quarter of the way in. I'm blown away that Ms Ingraham would allow her name on this - it's that shoddy.

If you’ve listened to books by Laura Ingraham before, how does this one compare?

I've listened to "Of Thee I Zing" and other Ingraham titles - which were terrific. This one is unlistenable.

What didn’t you like about Erin Novotny’s performance?

Whiny and too southern - jarring especially when you know Laura's professional radio voice.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Holy crap, no. Go buy her other audiobooks, which are way better. Especially those narrated by Laura herself!

Hate literature

What would have made Shut Up & Sing better?

A little less uber-partisan rhetoric.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I toggle back and forth between democrat/republic literature so that I can avail myslf equal opportunity listening.

What didn’t you like about Erin Novotny’s performance?

If Erin's vocal intention was to make Laura sound whiney and cynical, great job! The vocal tone could have been played differently to make it sound like level-headed narration.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment - I don't think the Republican's want Laura on their team. My cynical side was enjoying the "Shut Up & Sing" comments, because 'Hollywooders' does make fools out of themselves.

Any additional comments?

There's still hope. I know too many Republicans that are less fanatical about how to stand for change.
