Publisher's summary

Our world is filled with fake facades, from the unrealistic filters used on social media to the “holier than thou” personas seen in certain hypocritical believers.

To combat the fake trends, a new trend has emerged - one that fights the facade with transparency and vulnerability. Instead of being filtered or super-spiritual, we’re told to be real and honest. And rightly so.

Cannot wait to read this book over and over!!

I started and finished this gem in one day! I could NOT STOP listening! I found myself constantly nodding in agreement and begging for more!! It is the day after and have prayed over the concepts this book offered, ready to go through a second time with a notebook and pen in hand!!!

Do you want more than a self help book?

Do you want more than a self help book? Good because this is about transformation. How God uses the hard stuff to change us from the inside out. Wouldn't it be great if we as Sister's in Christ would celebrate the good stuff God is doing in our lives and not having to always be transparent in telling the sad stuff? Let's celebrate what God is doing in our lives and live counter-culturally to the world!

Wow. just wow

Whitney nailed it on the head. How to realize our desire to be transparent really needs to lead to a transformative life with God at the center. Not being transparent for the world but transform for Him.

Do you want truth?

This book is full of good truth, things you may not want to hear but need to hear. It provides a good biblical background and encourages the reader to do some retrospective soul digging . I love love loved it!

good content

I like the content of the book, but i would much rather read the book, as the narrator's has a sharp pitchy voice.

I cant finish it, it’s too inauthentic

I’m halfway through the audio book, as a latina who was not raised in the church with the perfect family, this book is hard for me to relate to, I am pushing through because I don’t want to be biased, I am hoping this gets better at some point, so far I have taken some points but nothing life changing.

I HATE the fact that she mentions her body as being “squishy”, as someone who pursues positive body image converstations, it makes me sad that she refers to it as if there is something wrong with having “squishy” body parts.
She herself talks about a sad experience in high school with friends, but quickly brushes it off, saying “oh don’t worry about me, I’m ok, it didnt hurt, I was fine”…basically shes strong and needs No empathy.
THIS is exactly what I hate about some authors, this is what makes it difficult to connect with, it feels fake, it sounds fake, tone deaf and privileged.
I will finish it, and in prayer will continue to ask the Lord to help me filter the value, but so far it has been very difficult.
