Publisher's summary
From the coauthor of the number-one New York Times best-selling American Sniper, this "inspired by true events" thriller follows one of America’s most lethal snipers as he leads the rescue of a downed female Special Ops pilot.
The President of the United States can’t decide how to respond to a classified video showing the Taliban’s brutal treatment of their captive - a female helicopter pilot of the Army’s elite Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Afraid that a botched rescue will further destabilize foreign policy and end his presidency, the Commander-in-Chief falters. But when the Special Ops community learns that one of their own is being tortured and will almost certainly be killed, no executive order will stop them from attempting a rescue mission.
In direct defiance of the President’s orders, Navy SEAL sniper Gil Shannon launches an audacious mission with the support of elite soldiers and an enigmatic government figure, to infiltrate the tribal faction holding the captured pilot. A pulse-pounding battle ensues, pitching the entire force of the Taliban against the fearless and heroic American sniper. Packed with blistering action and real-life combat scenes, Sniper Elite: One Way Trip will pin you to the edge of your seat until the very last sentence.

In December 2001, CIA paramilitary operative Matt Garrett is mysteriously pulled from Pakistan as he closes in for the kill of Al Qaeda senior leadership and is reassigned to a low-profile mission in the Philippines. But as he sifts through the wreckage of a downed U.S. C-130 cargo plane in the tangled jungle, he finds a dead U.S. Special Forces paratrooper who is not supposed to be there. Matt is quickly thrown into a contest of wits and resiliency in the uncharted rainforests of Mindanao.

Good Flow
Ranks towards the top. Good fast flowing story without too much over emphasis on technical info but enough to make it believable and interesting. Violence and assault wasn't over the top but there was a lot for the squeamish.
I would recommend the book. Worth the time and looking forward to the next in the series.

Good book by someone not a big name
Where does Sniper Elite: One Way Trip rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I like the suspense that builds in the book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
It is nice to have more than just the masters in military and Navy seal type works. He may be low in the list of those type of books but I have learned things about the military.
What about Brian Hutchison’s performance did you like?
He uses the differences in the characters voices and provides information about the Seals and it helps to make the books very interesting.
If you could take any character from Sniper Elite: One Way Trip out to dinner, who would it be and why?
None
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book to people who like Tom Clancy or authors like him. Understanding that this book is NOT Tom Clancy but allow for this authors work as an independent author and allow for his own style. It is a good book.

Great story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
So realistic it brought me to tears at times.
Have you listened to any of Brian Hutchison’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No...great job
If you could rename Sniper Elite: One Way Trip, what would you call it?
Appropriate name
Any additional comments?
Will be checking out more Scott McEwen books!

Great
great story that was made better by the narrator. the use of different accents to let you know who was speaking was perfectly used while not outright racist, mocking or beating you over the head with it. highly recommend

OMG! ... Just, OMG!!!
Damn you, Scott & Thomas! You took over my entire life for the last 24 hours! Especially the last 3rd or so of this thriller where I could feel the wounds, smell the fumes, and see the village, mountains, killings... And the horses (Oh, the horses!! I'm NOT forgiving you for THAT! Nope! A girl's gotta' have standards... Thankfully no dogs were involved, or I'd be sending you emails directly!) I've listened to dozens of books in the genre, loved the Tier One series as well as a few others. And many of them held my attention for hours & caused many a late night. But for some reason, this one brought me into the scenes like no other. For the last few hours, I accomplished NOTHING, because I was so busy being Shannon's silent wingman! When it was over, I felt like I had been through hell... I needed a shower, & some R & R! And it wasn't even noon! Thank you for immersing me into this novel in such a visceral way that I have never experienced before, despite being a listener of hundreds of audiobooks. Four hooves up, way, way up! (STILL not forgiving you for the HORSES, though!)
