About this listen

Separated at birth by a desperate nurse who loses a millionaire's son to cot death, twin boys grow up without any knowledge of the other.

Nat Cartwright lives with his middle-class birth parents and grows up to becomes a war hero in the Vietnam War before returning home to run for office in the Republican party.

Fletcher Davenport becomes the only son of the millionaire couple. After graduating from Yale, he builds a reputation as a prolific criminal defence lawyer before he too delves into politics as a Democrat.

Though their lives are entwined, and perfectly mirrored with tragedy and betrayal, neither men meet until one must defend the other for murder. A family saga of fate, political rivalry and extended lost family, perfect for fans of Jeffrey Archer’s other suspense filled thrillers.

Sons of Fortune is narrated by Michael Brandon, most famous for playing James Dempsey in the 1980’s television crime drama, "Dempsey and Makepeace". His extensive theatre career spans Broadway and the West End, where he played Jerry Springer in "Jerry Springer: the Opera" for the National Theatre.

Jeffrey Archer is a bestselling British author and former politician. He was educated at Oxford and went on to become a Member of Parliament, a Member of the House of Lords as well as the deputy chair of the Conservative Party. His political career ended in scandal and he turned to writing, where he has been published in over 250 countries.

He is perhaps most famous for the Clifton Chronicles and his blockbuster Kane and Abel which was number one on the New York Time's Bestseller list and inspired a popular miniseries starring Peter Strauss and Sam Neill.

After he was imprisoned for perjury in 2001, he wrote his highly acclaimed non-fiction series, Prison Diaries - Hell, Purgatory and Heaven - which were inspired by his experiences and loosely structured around Dante's Inferno.

Wish this was how the world works

It’s tempting to think of this as the good old days but I think this would be a little to optimistic even for those bygone times of yesteryear. It sure was fun to visit this fantasy land of Connecticut.

Archer never disappoints!

I have 16 Archer books in my library and each is a unique listening treasure. Sons of Fortune continues my fascination with Archers masterful storytelling ability. The producers carefully select readers that allow the brilliant storytelling to shine through. An ongoing Wonderful experience.

The story of two men

Great storytelling . A story that kept only you in the know while two men developed character that can be admired by the reader.

Another enjoyable Jeffrey Archer

It is such a joy to be able to listen to books. It allows me to get things done and at the same time be transported by talented authors like Jeffrey Archer.

The person reading the story aloud is a delight, but he has an accent that seems inappropriate for this particular book.

Another amazing story

I’ve listened to 1000+ books and the last 15 have been by Jeffrey Archer. Once I read one, I was hooked. The character development is like no other. This is one of my favorites after the Clifton Chronicles. Please keep them coming!

Classic Jeffrey Archer!

This story stands up to the test of time. Classic Jeffrey Archer style. It has fun twists and turns, lots of action, and is too busy moving ahead with the story to spend much time on character development. Narration is fine, but not up to today’s standards.

Exceptional work !

I so thoroughly enjoyed this book that I seriously dreaded it coming to an end… The story line, characters, narration, were all top notch and kept me up several nights… The two main characters, and their wives were cast in such heartwarming detail that you felt like they were friends you’d known a long time …This was a great story.. Loved it !

Good Archer book as always

While the story was really good, I found it a bit disappointing that there were several similarities to As the Crow Flies which I had just finished. The narrator’s diction was a bit weak. So often I heard assnat and realized it was “asked Nat!”
