About this listen

The Hunt is coming.

Despite his warriors' lineage, Erroh would rather waste his potential stumbling alone from one tavern to the next, drinking and gambling. Fate, however, has greater plans for him.

After decades of peace, a great war draws near, and though he doesn't know it, he is standing in the way of the first wave. What is more, and very much to his dismay, he's about to find out he's not entirely alone either. But Erroh has a plan, a simple plan.

It'll never work.

A reluctant coming of age epic packed with heroic sword fights, fierce battles, and slow-burn romance. Perfect for fans of Patrick Rothfuss and Brandon Sanderson, find out why thousands of readers have fallen for Amazon number one best-selling author Robert J Power's epic fantasy series.

Love Story for Those Who Loves Swords and War

This was a very good story, well written, with engaging characters. As it moves forward, this story slowly draws you in to the characters lives. There’s a tension between the main two characters builds then releases. The story is fast moving, engaging, and kept me consistently entertained.

I believe this was the first book I’ve heard narrated by Evan Morton, and he did a great job. His voicing skills was top-notch.

If you are considering this book, take the chance. I don’t think you will be sorry.

Long but good story

Good fantasy book although long. Makes for good bedtime listening. Like the way women have an important part od the story.

The hero and fantasy escape I need right now

At last! A story that holds my attention fast and makes me want to turn off the news and disappear into the journey with our young - but complicated - hero. And a pleasure to listen to Euan Morton's performance of it. Bravo.

Great world building

So nice to see something different in this genre instead of same old tropes with different character names. Very well written, and well narrated.

I will be search out everything I can find by this author, and I can’t wait for the next in this series!

Awkward Romance Story

The story focuses on two pov character's romance. The romance seems unnatural/forced as do the interpersonal problems. I don't know why people are willing to rate fantasy stories as five stars as long as they aren't completely incompetent. It's passable but there are many better options out there.

it feels real, trials of life and transition

reminded me of my younger self looking for my soulmate and then learning to live with each other. It has depth and it is engaging. This is a nice change from an increasing amount of barely edited drivel.

Rambles

Why use one paragraph when you can use ten to say the same thing.
As I said rambles.

Loved this story

I loved this book! I thought the character building was done just right. The story was interesting all the way through and the story built in intensity as it progress, to the point that I could not put it down during the last fourth of the book. The narrator did an excellent job. I listen to a lot of audio books, 2-3 a week (mostly science fiction) and I don't often review them, but I felt compelled to review this one because of the criticism I saw when I read the reviews. Listen to this book, you won't be sorry. The only con is that the sequel is not available yet and I have to wait for it.

Worth a read.

I won't lie. I'm excited about the next book. It's not the best ever but I think it's better than average. It kept my attention and I was rarely if ever bored.
