Learn How to Blossom into a Christian Woman Who Chases after God

Ranked among the 100 best Christian fiction books of all time at GoodReads.com.

“This book is a treasure of both godly and womanly wisdom told with disarming candor and humility, yet revealing a deep heart's desire to know God. … I do not hesitate to recommend it to men, who need to understand the wives they live with, and to any woman who wants to walk with God.” -- Elisabeth Elliot.

What if a girl began journaling about her triumphs and trials at age 16 -- and continued to do so until the final days of her life? That’s the idea behind the classic Christian book Stepping Heavenward, in which young Katherine blossoms from a rebellious teenager who frustrates her mom into a mature Christian woman who chases after God’s heart.

Through journal entries about her daily life, we experience her courtship, her marriage, her raising of multiple children, and -- in the final pages -- her reflections on life. We also learn numerous nuggets of wisdom gained from a life of joy and sorrow.

“One must either stop reading the Bible altogether, or else leave off spending one’s whole time in just doing easy pleasant things one likes to do,” Katherine writes.

Much of the book mirrors the life of Prentiss, who -- like Katherine -- experienced the tragic deaths of multiple family members and grew closer to God during the process.

Prentiss wrote this book 150 years ago, yet the challenges faced and the lessons learned still ring true today. Katherine begins her journal on Jan. 15, 1831, and pens her final entry on June 30, 1859, shortly before her own death.

Stepping Heavenward is for teenagers, young adults and seasoned citizens who want to grow closer to God.

It is for lovers of fiction and non-fiction who want to be entertained and inspired, convicted and challenged. It is for anyone who desires to grow in their sanctification. It is for every Christian.

Take a leap forward in your Christian journey and learn from a legend by picking up this timeless classic today.

A beautiful look into the inner life of a follower of Christ

I highly recommend this book! It was such an encouragement and honest look at the sanctification of a believer and of the joy that can be found in the life of a follower of Jesus as they learn to rest in His sovereignty through the trials of life.

The prayer of my life

May I be like this, whether in life or death... living for Christ in the simple life or the non-simple life whichever God gives me.

Being a Christian is a hard LifeLong journey

Did not like thinking about the narrator being a computer. Why not use a real person - ESPECIALLYfor such a powerful book

Interesting look into the woman’s life of long ago

I loved her story of growing in Christ, although it was at times quite dismal, and nothing like today’s Christian women’s life, where women are able to use their gifts and talents in the workplace and in ministry.
The only option then I guess was to be a housewife.
It would be hard for most Christian young women today to relate to this book, but interesting to think that this was how our Christian great grandmother’s may have thought and lived. Culture was certainly a lot different than and so many more people died young back then.
This book has quite a bit of focus on suffering, so it’s not something that’s going to cheer you up.
I was disappointed to find out this was fiction and I’m not fond of virtual voice.
It was interesting, but I wouldn’t really recommend it if you’re looking for something more uplifting.
