The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

Believable stories made this hold well for me all the thru. Only a couple of actors could've been switched for better. Despite that this was worth the buy.

Fantastic
Everything about this was fabulous! The storylines the characters the actors playing characters were all spot on and so well done! After this 1-4 series I feel I know John Stone and what he is like what his life is like. He isn't a super cop a no fault man. He is a man who loves his job maybe too much..he can't leave work at work. Having been married to a cop I know what this is like. It is in their dna and they just can’t let it go.
Going right on to the next set of this great radio series. It's so colorful it's so multidimensional I can SEE the action see the players as if I was watching this on a screen live action.

Fantastic on all counts!
Wonderful performances, well-written stories, good characterization. The stories are well paced, not predictable, covering a broad range of social issues and problems. It's great fun and you don't even have to rack your brain to follow the plot, as is the case with John Le Carré. But it's complex enough to keep your attention. It's not even too pc. Just the right amount. I have a gripe with the last story, but I can't be too picky, the collection is 99% perfect. Made my daily run on the threadmill a lot more pleasant.

I enjoy BBC full cast radio dramas. This is very enjoyable. So enjoyable I preordered the next offering. I had a little difficulty with some of the full cockney accents but not enough to obscure the meaning or detract from the story.
