Yet despite their differences, great managers share one common trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites. Story
The key to success, salespeople are constantly told, is to follow specific steps and techniques. Just heed the advice of this guru or that speaker, and you'll be the best! Well, that approach just doesn't work for most salespeople. And it probably doesn't work for you either. The most successful reps, Gallup has determined from decades of research, understand their innate talents and strengths and use them to sell more effectively.

Story
They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds. In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great managers.

Better than I expected
When assigned to read this I was expecting this to be quite boring. I must say it is most interesting read for an assigned graduate text I have ever read. I purchased the book and audible version to help me finish quicker. But now I going back to just read my hardback on my on own. Lots of interesting and useful information!

Better as a reference book than an audio book.
The readers are terrible performers, which makes already dry material pretty rough. The material is top notch but I feel it would be better served as a reference book opposed to reading front to back. The second half of the book is a different reader, bit better but again, better as reference material.

Great psychological insight to leading your team
The strengths finder test and report are spot on and insightful. Great for your whole team to to read for a better understanding of everyones strengths and how to use that knowledge to take your team to the next level. Also a great hiring tool to find the best qualified candidate according to the strengths needed for that position or strengths needed to make your team more well rounded.
