Publisher's summary

USA Today best-selling author Adriana Locke delivers a “fresh and fun” romance between a grumpy single dad and his beautiful, spunky employee—the one he can’t have.

Chemistry is not love.

That’s what my boss, the grumpy single dad with brilliant green eyes, says, anyway.

I have my V-card. He’s 10 years older than me. I work for him.

Nate Hughes has a million reasons why a relationship between us would never work. Honestly? It’s all a farce.

He can’t deny our connection. His soft smiles, brief touches, and protective behaviors come too easily. And when I need a place to stay? He can’t stop himself from offering me a room—though I’d prefer his bed. After all, there are sparks—delicious, sizzling sparks—when we’re together.

Our forced proximity brings things to a head. Our shared experiences and traumas draw us closer. Our undeniable attraction has us toeing the line between friends and lovers—whether Nate likes it or not.

He’s right—chemistry is not love. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t fall in love with him...even if he can’t love me back.

Nate and Paige's story!!!

I loved this book when I read it originally and was super excited to listen to it in audiobook form!! Thanks to Adriana Locke for the audiobook!! The story was amazing and the narrators were exactly how I imagined Nate and Paige would sound when I first read this book.

If you’ve ever read a book by Adriana, you know what you’re going to get will be fun, flirty, and dare I day, sweet. That’s exactly what you get with Sweet, Paige and Nate’s book. Single dad trope, forced proximity trope, it’s got all the good stuff. Nate is a single dad trying to avoid his attraction to his employee Paige, who doesn’t believe in forever. When she gets evicted from her apartment and needs a place to stay, Nate steps up to take her in despite his hesitance to give in to his attraction. As the book goes on and they both face their pasts and fears together, you see the growth of two people together. Nate is supportive, reliable, and would do anything for his son and Paige. The dynamic between the two of them draws you in as they fight their attraction, and you find yourself cheering them on.

If you’re looking for a cute, easy, and sweet read, Sweet is the book for you. If you’re looking for more Adriana Locke, pick up any one of her other series on KU to get the stories of many characters you see in Sweet (the 6th book in the Landry family series). You can’t go wrong with any of them. I can’t wait for Adriana’s next release and until then, I might dive right back into her world with another series of hers focusing on another family (Gibson, Landry, or Mason series).

Single dad you swoon over

This is only my second Adriana Locke book and I loved it. Paige and Nate both have rough pasts with trauma they both are dealing with. They both aren’t sure that love will really work between them. Nate breaks down Paige’s walls and gets through to her. Now I need to read the rest of the serious.

Sweet romance

The title of this book is perfect. Nate and Paige's story is just that sweet. Nate is a single dad who wants nothing more than to find the one. He has had a thing for Paige, but knowing she is afraid of relationships hasn't pursued anything. When Paige gives into her feelings for Nate, there is so much love to be found. When Paige finally stop running from love and gives into the love all around her there is so much happiness for this little family. Great characters and I loved seeing the Landry's pop up in here!

The narrators did a great job. I did feel like Paige's voice was a little older than I would have though, but it was good.

Good

This was a good read. It shows that everyone has issues and doubts and to some extent self sabotaging tendencies. It all boils down to how you deal with them.
Nate and Paige made the perfect couple for these issues and how to deal (and not deal) with them.
As for the narration, it was good. I enjoyed both their voices, but I did have to increase the speed to make the speech more realistic or at least not as languid.

Sweet

Sweet is the 6th book in the Landry Family series. This book is told from dual points of view by Nate and Paige. Paige is Holli's biological sister, and we have met Hollis in a past book.

Paige gets kicked out of her apartment complex because her friend wasn't paying the rent. While she's at work, Nate her boss offers for her to come and stay in their spare room. He tells his son that Paige is there as a guest, and to treat her nicely.

Being in forced proximity means feelings are going to evolve. Paige hasn't had the easiest past, and when things start moving too fast, she's not sure how to handle it. She is also getting to know her brother Hollis. I don't want to go into what happens too much, so I'll tell you my feelings.

I loved getting to know Paige and Nate, and little Ryder. Paige and Ryder's friendship grows, and Ryder gets to the point where he wants his dad to adopt Paige. So sweet. Nate is also a great single father and is there for Ryder when he needs him. Paige's relationship with Hollis also grew stronger, and I loved seeing that. I really felt for Paige as she was going through some of the things she went through in the book, and really loved getting to know these characters! I'm hoping they pop up once in a while in future books!

Sweet single dad

Fantastic narration.
Nate Hughes is everything you want in a man. He’s a responsible business owner, a sweet single dad, and a great dirty talker. He has just the right amount of grump to make him perfect. Nate has been a character in the background of previous books. I was really hoping we would get more of his story. Nate and Ryder were were such a great team. Paige didn’t stand a chance. Paige just had to quit self sabotaging and running scared. Also, no one needs a friend like Marcie.

Swoon. 😍

I absolutely loved this book. Nate was the best hero. Why is a single dad so hot. 🥵

I loved the banter between Nate and Page. Gosh. They are so cute.

This was seriously the best way to keep the series going. Also, I got an update on Hollis!!!

Don"t Miss This

Performance:
Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are a match made in narrator heaven. They both did a fantastic job. Especially since they are not only narrating their characters but that of young Ryder. I can't imagine it is easy to perform as a young child and they both were able to accomplish that with flying colors. I do have to tip my hat a little extra to Wen in this respect because he really blew me away with his performance.

Story:
Sweet is the perfect title for this book. Paige, Nate, and Ryder produce the kind of story that makes you smile. And when the cutie Ryder (Nate’s son) isn’t around there is all the heat and chemistry between Paige and Nate.

A few things I loved about this story. Nate, for as grumpy as he is, is a nice guy. The kind of guy we all should want or be lucky to have in our lives. Not to mention HOT. I found Paige to be very relatable. The things she feels and the way she masks or acts… I got it. Ryder playing such an integral part in this book is great. I really appreciate that the child of the single Dad is more of a main character rather than a secondary character. As with all of Adriana Locke’s books the family dynamics with Paige and her adopted family and her biological brother plus Nate with his brother Dominic plays so well. It gives this couple and this book a round world in a very successful and real way.

I am so excited for what might come next with the introduction of some new characters.

All the Sweetness!!!

While the story of Nate and Paige came out great on paper., Kai & Wen did an amazing job bringing all the sweetness, emotion, and sexy fun to life.
Nate and Paige are definitely the right type of connection and Adriana Locke really knows how to bring the many traits to life, of all her characters. I couldn't get enough of these two, and it is a great addition to my collection of favs!

A great audiobook!

Sweet brings readers back to the Landry Family series with a book that lives up to its name and more.

Paige and Nate have wonderful chemistry and banter. She's younger and his employee but their connection is undeniable and I liked the two of them together. As with many of Adriana Locke's books there is an emphasis on family and friendship too. They are interesting and fun secondary characters who add a lot to the story. I am looking forward to reading more about some of them in Adriana's next series.

Kai and Wen's narration was easy to listen to and entertaining. I really liked them as Paige and Nate.

This is a great, engaging book and can be read as a standalone. If you're like me, though, and love interconnected series I definitely recommend checking out Adriana's backlist too!
