Horrible sound effects and music ruin the production
Audible: please warn your readers if you have “enhanced the listening experience” with music and sound effects! I stuck it out for the story, but this is the last I will be listening to in this series. Several disappointing moments in this book from a story perspective but even those moments are overshadowed by the terrible production. Whoever thought that playing cheesy elevator music behind all the remotely romantic scenes and adding sound effects for gunshots and explosions would add to the reading of this story was terribly off base. Totally ruins the book by distracting from the story. I’ll have to search for the next book in the series without this “added production value” and read the paperbacks up until that point.

Love the books but dislike the narrator
The books remain true to form and highly enjoyable. The narrator has a lisp and it gets worse as she gets tired. I mean no disrespect to the woman but it is irritating to listen to. The book is so good one can bear it. If you have to time to read, get the book.

Not all Bad...but
I have been a fan of the "Women's Murder Club" series and I also enjoyed the television show (RIP). This was my first audiobook for the series and it was lackluster at best. The voice of the characters was barely discernable from one to another and felt unmotivated. I understand this is fluff writing, but it is enjoyable, but the listening was not what I expected. Needs better phrasing and the pronuciation is too upper-crust for a cop. Better luck next time, but I will by the paper instead.

Maxine Paetro gets little credit!!
Maxine Paetro took over from Andrew Gross as Patterson's co-author in The Women's Murder Club series with Book #4 in 2005 and has now coauthored 14 novels in the series. She has also coauthored with Patterson 7 novels in two other series. Looking at the book covers one realizes she gets little credit. I hope she is well compensated.
The 8th Confession is an excellent suspense thriller.

Good narration but cheesy music
The books themselves are pretty cheesy, but enjoyable. The narrator is great, but the background music in some chapters is super cheesy and distracting. Would be better without it.
