Publisher's summary
Nicholas Flamel appeared in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter - but did you know he really lived? And his secrets aren't safe! Discover the truth in book one of the New York Times best-selling series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.
The truth: Nicholas Flamel's tomb is empty.
The legend: Nicholas Flamel lives.
Nicholas Flamel is the greatest Alchemyst to ever live. The records show that he died in 1418, but what if he's actually been making the elixir of life for centuries?
The secrets to eternal life are hidden within the book he protects - the Book of Abraham the Mage. It's the most powerful book that has ever existed, and in the wrong hands, it will destroy the world. And that's exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it.
There is one hope. If the prophecy is true, Sophie and Josh Newman have the power to save everyone. Now they just have to learn to use it.

Next best thing to Harry Potter series.
What made the experience of listening to The Alchemyst the most enjoyable?
Most fantasy books I read are mostly urban fantasy. This one caught my interest when I read the publisher's summary. After the first few chapters, I was hooked.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Sophie was my favorite character. She was head strong between the twin. She was not easily influnced by some of the villians, even though she still was the archetypal "innocent character".
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I just hate how influential Josh was through out the whole book. If someone told to jump in the lake, he probably would jump in the lake.

What made the experience of listening to The Alchemyst the most enjoyable?
although a interesting premise and a well thought out magic system, by the end of the book I just wanted to bitch slap the brother with a bat. his jealously and lack of good sense was sucking my enjoyment from the rest of the book.

Won't play on Alexa :(
This book sounds really good from the preview, but I can't get it to play on Alexa since I purchased it last week. :( Alexa will only play the sample and then ask to purchase it, even though when I ask her what books are in my purchased library on Audible she says it is there and I can play it on other devices. However, my husband and I like to listen to books at bedtime with Alexa... I hope this gets fixed soon.
