Publisher's summary
What if charisma could be taught? For the first time, science and technology have taken charisma apart, figured it out and turned it into an applied science: In controlled laboratory experiments, researchers could raise or lower people's level of charisma as if they were turning a dial. What you'll find here is practical magic: unique knowledge, drawn from a variety of sciences, revealing what charisma really is and how it works. You'll get both the insights and the techniques you need to apply this knowledge. The world will become your lab, and every person you meet, a chance to experiment.
The Charisma Myth is a mix of fun stories, sound science, and practical tools. Cabane takes a hard scientific approach to a heretofore mystical topic, covering what charisma actually is, how it is learned, what its side effects are, and how to handle them.

Story
The creative mode in your brain is like a butterfly. It's beautiful and erratic, hard to catch, and highly valued as a result. If you want to capture it, you need a net. Enter the executive mode, the task-oriented network in your brain that helps you tie your shoes, run a meeting, or pitch a client. To succeed, you need both modes to work together - your inner butterfly to be active and free, but your inner net to be ready to spring at the right time and create that "aha!" moment. But is there any way to trigger these insights, beyond dumb luck?

The Science of Getting Rich is the classic guide to creating wealth through the Law of Attraction. First published in 1910, 100 years later it inspired Rhonda Byrne's best-selling book and movie, The Secret. According to Wallace D. Wattles, "There is a science of getting rich, and it is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic. There are certain laws which govern the process of acquiring riches; once these laws are learned and obeyed by any man, he will get rich with mathematical certainty."

One third to one half of Americans are introverts in a culture that celebrates - even enforces - an ideal of extroversion and a cult of personality. Political leaders are charismatic, celebrities bask in the spotlight, and authority figures are assertive. It is no surprise that a quiet revolution has begun to emerge among the invisible half of the population, asserting that they are just as powerful in their own unique ways. The Irresistible Introvert embodies the spirit of this revival and breaks down the myth that charisma is reserved for extroverts only.

Has some good ideas
This book has some good ideas, but I felt like it would've been much better at half its length. it begins to get a bit repetitive once you've made it about halfway through. Some more examples or a way to break up the monotony would be nice. I lost focus in a few chapters. Overall I liked it though. It has some original ideas that can work.

Good, not great, poor performance
The religious ideas and references are annoying and distracting but that's mostly only early in the book. The reading is almost comically *not* charismatic, very flat almost robotic.
However much of the advice is well considers and helpful.

Great workbook
This was a fantastic listen! I am personally coaching presentation skills and it was always hard to activate charisma in my students! Surely some of them just had it and it was easy to multiply the effects. But in others who were detached when presenting their lack of presence was sooooo palpable that it wasn’t even fun to watch them speak anymore!
I felt that it definitely has to do with their internal mind state, which the author has also seemed to have researched intensively! Olivia Cabane has however laid down so much concrete data to why my best students were that way! So grateful to have read this book, so many GEMS and in a very actionable manner!
Highly recommend it to anyone willing to develop their charisma or understand where their charisma actually comes from (if you think you are already)!
BONUS: 1- Charisma is also a HATER GENERATOR! Olivia Cabana also shares some insights of lessening the effects of jealous peers and how to keep your magnetism in check.
2- Smoothly exiting social encounters specially when people really enjoy your company that they don’t want to let go! So she shares insights on how to gracefully eject and excuse your self
