I really enjoyed learning from the historical setting, and the realistic portrayal of Christian characters. Interesting storyline too.

Good historical information

I liked the descriptive style that the author used. I was able to picture the fort and the soldiers etc. it’s mostly a romance but it has plenty of interesting detail unrelated to the love interest.

Great story, great narration

I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom. I am a big fan of true to life westerns and this one hit the spot. It is not Louie Lamore grade but it stands out. I like the love story because it is clean and they get to know each other and still like each other before falling in love. I like the intrigue that surrounds the death of her father and the secrets that the colonel is keeping. the reveal is important. The listening public could use some more clean historical westerns. I like this one almost as much as I do the mail order brides books.

A Historical Romance..

Any additional comments?

Roxanna, the female lead, finds out that her father has died and decides to take over his position as scrivener.

She soon finds out that Cassius, the male lead, is an admirer of hers but is unaware of that he holds a secret or two.

The story line has a few unexpected twists and turns that made it very difficult to put the book down.

Overall, this was a very Good Read filled with Romance and Suspense.

Laura Jennings did well with the narration.
