Publisher's summary

The newly discovered novel from multi-million-selling author Joy Ellis. Never-before published!

THREE NICE PEOPLE. THREE TERRIBLE CRIMES. WHAT MADE THEM DO THESE AWFUL THINGS?

It’s the night shift worker who finds them. Huddled in a hospital store cupboard is elderly Edith Higgins. Knifed to death. Sitting behind her is Staff Nurse Lily Frampton, a scalpel clasped in her blood-soaked hand.

No one can understand why this kind-hearted, dedicated nurse would brutally murder a frail patient she’s spent months caring for.

That same day, mild-mannered schoolteacher Rod Black is found surrounded by the battered bodies of his pupils. Why would a well-respected teacher beat five schoolboys to death?

Then a third shocking — and equally inexplicable — incident takes place in a London homeless shelter.

Now awaiting film version of this amazing book!

This was another winner. It would make an Excellenct screenplay/film version with all the vivid descriptions of the auras and energy fields. I would even sign on to see a full series of these stories after reading more in this vein. Kudo Joy! It is no wonder you became a successful crime writer after this beginning. I hope you will consider making more like this as well.

A little predictable but exciting

Love this and the first book. A little eerie story and great character builds. Love Joy Ellis and thinks these were good additions to her library. Would recommend.

I really have enjoyed this series. I did like the first book more than the second, but truly enjoyed them both Want more!

Entertaining and interesting

Joy Ellis is a great story teller. She describes this novel and its precedent novel are her “novice entry” as a writer. Novice or not, both books were quite interesting and enjoyable. I’m not a literary critic, I just enjoy a good story.

Almost there...

This book is detail-heavy and got weighed down alot. Having said that, I still loved the premise and look forward to the next installment. The narration is terrific.

Loved it.

I loved both of these! I know Joy Ellis wrote them twenty years ago, but I really hope she writes more!

Eerie tale.

Good listen. Held my interest, ever though, identifying the speaker was difficult. Plot was good, final resolution left something be desired. I would enjoy hear more books in this paranormal mystery, genre.

Talented narrator!!

It's hard to believe that these 2 books were Ms. Ellis' first. The talent was definitely there. I wish there were more Ellie McEwan books.

Sophie Rundle is SUCH a wonderful narrator! I could listen to her read anything.

The last hour was very convoluted

The last hour was too convoluted: too many characters were speaking from too many places and on too many parts of the plot. Very hard to follow. However, this is only her second novel, and we have read about ten of her other novels which work quite well.
