Publisher's summary

The newly discovered novel from multi-million-selling author Joy Ellis. Never-before published!

THREE NICE PEOPLE. THREE TERRIBLE CRIMES. WHAT MADE THEM DO THESE AWFUL THINGS?

It’s the night shift worker who finds them. Huddled in a hospital store cupboard is elderly Edith Higgins. Knifed to death. Sitting behind her is Staff Nurse Lily Frampton, a scalpel clasped in her blood-soaked hand.

No one can understand why this kind-hearted, dedicated nurse would brutally murder a frail patient she’s spent months caring for.

That same day, mild-mannered schoolteacher Rod Black is found surrounded by the battered bodies of his pupils. Why would a well-respected teacher beat five schoolboys to death?

Then a third shocking — and equally inexplicable — incident takes place in a London homeless shelter.

Now awaiting film version of this amazing book!

This was another winner. It would make an Excellenct screenplay/film version with all the vivid descriptions of the auras and energy fields. I would even sign on to see a full series of these stories after reading more in this vein. Kudo Joy! It is no wonder you became a successful crime writer after this beginning. I hope you will consider making more like this as well.

A little predictable but exciting

Love this and the first book. A little eerie story and great character builds. Love Joy Ellis and thinks these were good additions to her library. Would recommend.

Story

I really have enjoyed this series. I did like the first book more than the second, but truly enjoyed them both Want more!

I wish there were more psychic mysteries

This series is wonderful. Heart warming, with a cottage-core feel, some mystery/intrigue, a bit of whimsy, great dialogue, and good follow through. I wish the author hadn’t made the choice to go into simple crime stories and had stuck with this unique genre.

So darn good- I need more!!

I never thought I would truly love an author like the way I do Joy Ellis. She is amazingly talented and I cannot believe that these are two of her first books ever. They are exquisite. I need more more more of these amazing characters with their beautiful and interesting storyline.

Joy Ellis, I implore you to pick these up and continue the series so all of your readers and fans can see the beautiful path you create for these characters

Thrilling supernatural mystery with lovable characters

This just ticked off so many of my boxes. Engaging characters, lgbtq representation without fetishization is just lovely and a fun mystery, an excellent voice performance and an enchanting but dangerous world. The only downside is knowing there are not more of these stories.

The sequel as good as the first

The storyline enthralling, the characters engaging, and the narration excellent. I’ve had no qualms in already recommending this two books series to others. Need I say more?

Loved the first and love the second

The narrator is great and it was nice to have continuity from book 1 to book 2 with the same narrator. I’m not sure the story was as strong but it’s a great idea and it was good to return to Ellie, Michael, Alice, Wendy, the Gov, Vera, the dogs and to be introduced to new characters like Callum.

Entertaining and interesting

Joy Ellis is a great story teller. She describes this novel and its precedent novel are her “novice entry” as a writer. Novice or not, both books were quite interesting and enjoyable. I’m not a literary critic, I just enjoy a good story.
