i loved it until i didn’t

the cheating, the death, they didn’t sit right with me. regardless of it feeling “right” for the story. the trigger warnings should’ve been clearer in the death because as a mother it hurts and aches and isn’t something i wanted to read for enjoyment.

Super light hearted until you get thrown for a loop!

I was NOT prepared for the last hour of this book. It’s a really good raw story with some harsh realities. It’s definitely worth the read.

So many emotions!

I don’t even have the words to fully process the rollercoaster of emotions that this book took me on. It’s 4am, and instead of getting a few hours of sleep, I have to go search for Part II!

Next please!

I can’t get enough of Thayer and Salem. That connection is intense. Definitely didn’t see the loss coming and that was very difficult to read. But it was written so well…so I gotta give credit for hitting me in all the feels. Being on the next one!

One of the greatest!

This is my very first audible and once I started I could not stop.. it took me 3 days to finish this and I’m obsessed and ready to start the next book. Amazing listen!!

the voice for the kid almost made me quit

it was hard to take the book or the main character seriously sometimes because of the over dramatic reading. would have been better toned down.

the story was pretty good. leaves you on a cliffhanger so I might read the next one now.

Heartbreaking and need to know more

Purchasing the next one immediately to find out what happens with the three main characters!

I'll start by saying I knew the big trigger point spoiler going in, so I wasn't blindsided and wasn't as affected. I also listened vs. read, which I think often keeps you a bit separated from the story. All that being said, I really liked this story. The first 80% or so is Thayer and Salem building their relationship and a lot of it is sunshine and rainbows with the exception of her past, her mom and the drama surrounding her boyfriend, which sounds like a lot, but the last 20% is heartbreakingly tragic and would make almost anything look like unicorns and puppy dogs. Please, please, please do not read this story if you have any triggers surrounding SA or death of a main character [<spoiler>to be more specific a child</spoiler>]

I really loved Thayer, but did have a hard time seeing what he saw in Salem... She is often mature, especially with what she went through as a kid, but she's also extremely immature, especially when it comes to handling her feelings for Thayer and her relationship with Caleb. I was pretty disappointed that she emotionally cheated on poor Caleb for so long and then ultimately physically did as well. He wasn't a bad guy, they just grew apart and she fell for someone else, she should have just been an adult and left him sooner. I think it would have bothered me less if she was going to be with some 18-20 year old kid, but she's going with a 31 year old man and needs to be more mature than she was to make that relationship work.

I'm really interested to see how book two plays out and how these two find their happily ever after, because the end of The Confidence of Wildflowers is anything but....

Cupcakes and Diet Coke

I really tried to like this one....but I couldn't get past the redundant phrases....like cupcakes and diet coke. I get it, you like diet coke!!!! Probably mentioned 12 times. The narration was not great, i really didn't feel much of a connection with any of the characters. The drama was very superficial and did not have great detailed explanations. There was one twist i did not see coming and the ending was left unsatisfactory. I realize that is to push you to read the 2nd book.

Check Triggers

I went into this story completely blind without knowing anything about it besides seeing the beautiful cover. I was not expecting this at all. First off, this read very quickly for being almost 350 pages. I read through this in one sitting. I could not put it down.

This does deal with some heavy topics throughout the story. Most of the book mentions these things, but does not jump too into them. However; the last half of this book does! I was not expecting the author to take it where they did. It was so sad. I do feel it was all a little rushed though.

The story does just kind of end. You will be left with so many questions and wanting to know what happened next. I am hoping book two answers these. I need it ASAP.
