Resumen del Editor

Although not penned as a sequel to The Devil’s Heiress, Dragon’s Bride introduces Con Somerford, Earl of Wyvern. Somerford inherits an earldom on the coast of England, which he has not visited for over a decade. Years of war and estrangement with his father have left him hard and alone and completely undesiring of the title or lands he now holds.

In his absence, the estate became a smuggling center for the local town, led by none other than the girl—now woman—who continues to haunt his dreams. He and Susan Kerslake only knew each other for two weeks when they were both adolescents, but the afternoon of passion they shared on the beach beneath the cliffs burned a hole in his heart. The memories of her betrayal torment his mind and even in the wake of all the battles he’s fought, none comes close to his war with her. As he rides in the darkness toward the empty castle, his mind is filled with thoughts of her when he suddenly comes face to face with Susan and her gun as she attempts to protect her fellow smugglers down on the beach. To safeguard her smuggling operation she has taken a job as the housekeeper in the empty castle. But upon his return, Con lets her know he expects her to perform the duties for which she is paid.

Every tense moment between them is electrifying as old wounds are ripped open and healed by the power of love. The sensuality and sexual tension between this couple is just what Beverley’s fans have come to expect and this truly is a story that will stand out in the minds—and hearts—of romance readers everywhere.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"[W]hat begins as an apparently simple reunion story but becomes more intriguing and darkly complex as the layers of the plot are cleverly peeled away." ( Library Journal)

Well, not the greatest but OK

I chose this book because of the reader. The storyline was pretty cluttered, and you just wanted the story to end. Thankfully, it eventually did.

Lovely, lovely, lovely

This book is definitely my cup of tea. I did not expect the events throughout or before the end of the book and the tension in the love kept my interest high. I also have read so many romance books that now I fast forward through the sex scenes but not here. It was done well and I am sorry to see it end. I highly recommend this book

Slow

I just cannot get into this one. The story just isn’t grabbing me and I can’t get into the characters.

Dragons, Dragons, Everywhere!!

Here we meet Con Somerford One of the three Georges. This is not a sequel to the The Devil’s Heiress but it is a prequel. If you like Jo Beverly’s a Company of Rogues this is a recommended listening. I read the book and then purchased the audiobook it is so much better that just reading, more emotion and more understanding of Con and Susan’s heartache. You find out about Con’s Dragon tatoo and the other Georges. I loved it because I loved all the characters. And Simon Prebble has won many awards including the golden voice so the. Narration is great. I disagree with the reviewer above about the narrator. You don’t know what will happen until the end and I will not spoil if for you but it is really excellent.

prequel, not sequel

The event of this novel occur before those of "The Devil's Heiress," not after them as suggested in the Publisher's review printed on this site.

Th'ar be dragons

So the youthful indiscretions haunt these two for 11 years and spoil their 'reunion' . Their interactions are like bumper cars at an amusement park. Fortunately there are plot twists that save them from themselves.

Loved It!

This narrator was great the story came to life in his voice. The relationship between the characters is more complex and layered than that of your typical romance novel. I could not stop listening wanting to know if they would ever work things out, if they would be able to overcome the obstacles in their way. Highly recommend this audio book!

Outstanding!!!

This is a book for mature readers because the mature theme is regrets, and living life after poor choices.
The female main character is extremely strong and independent and stays that way throughout the book and it’s one of the things the male main characters likes. They are both damaged from war, bad choices and hurting each other.
Some of the bad choices are serious but it’s a work of a fiction and not real life so it has to drama or it’s boring.
They are both multi faceted with full range of emotions. They both have different roles at different times and act the part yet are still them is a inexplicable real human like way. The author is simply outside in that regard.
The creepy manor/castle with all its oddities is described with enough depth and detail to see but not over much to get tedious
It’s intense on the romantic side and I found myself more then once wanting to skip to the end.
(They do get physical if that’s a no go for you)
The mystery of manor is odd and pulls in a bit of the ‘village’s’ history and lore. I so enjoy when an author does.
I didn’t read any of the others in this series and didn’t feel I was missing anything. So it is a stand alone.
The narrator is wonderful. His voice is slightly older sound for our hero but his voice is so smooth I didn’t mind. I enjoy the 10 hours I spent with him.

Not really in the series AND MEN WORE STAYS AT THIS TIME!!!!!

This is more of a stand alone that was tagged onto a successful series. There is one visit to King Rogue, and then others at the wedding…but there is nothing in the plot that necessitates this book being part of the series. This is one of those books written to sell to fans of a series, but comes off as ghost written and in a different universe.

The original books interweave the stories, this book barely mentions other Rogues. I guess Georges wasn’t a winner. The original books mention fashion of the era (even if she fails at the finer points…such as men wore stays and padded out their trousers. Breeches were out, but for people who couldn’t afford to get new clothes and were wearing parts of their military uniforms, or geriatric people who wouldn’t conform and didn’t go out socially anymore. This talk of high necklines (the blue wool dress) is a decade too late and all of these people are from the peerage or established homes that would be peak fashion for the era).

This is poorly written, has no conflict, could be ANY ERA, and is irrelevant to the series. It’s bait…but in the times of books being too expensive to own (again, is it the 1600s all over again?) this is a rip off.
