About this listen

The 6:20 Man is back, dropped by his handlers into a small coastal town in Maine to solve the murder of a CIA agent who knew America’s dirtiest secrets—can Travis Devine uncover the truth before his time runs out?

When CIA operative Jenny Silkwell is murdered in rural Maine, government officials have immediate concerns over national security. Her laptop and phone were full of state secrets that, in the wrong hands, endanger the lives of countless operatives. In need of someone who can solve the murder quickly and retrieve the missing information, the U.S. government knows just the chameleon they can call on.

Ex-Army Ranger Travis Devine spent his time in the military preparing to take on any scenario, followed by his short-lived business career chasing shadows in the deepest halls of power, so his analytical mind makes him particularly well-suited for complex, high-stakes tasks. Taking down the world’s largest financial conspiracy proved his value, and in comparison, this case looks straightforward. Except small towns hold secrets and Devine finds himself an outsider again.

Devine must ingratiate himself with locals who have trusted each other their whole lives, and who distrust outsiders just as much. Dak, Jenny’s brother, who’s working to revitalize the town. Earl, the retired lobsterman who found Jenny’s body. And Alex, Jenny’s sister with a dark past of her own. As Devine gets to know the residents of Putnam, Maine, answers seem to appear and then transform into more questions. There’s a long history of secrets and those who will stop at nothing to keep them from being exposed. Leaving Devine with no idea who he can trust... and who wants him dead.

Outstanding!!

This book is full of so many twists and turns that I could hardly keep up. I listened to it the entire day and finished up this morning. It’s one of those books that you just don’t want it to end because it’s so good. Zachary Webber is one of my favorites and his outstanding narration added to the pleasure of listening to this book. I also enjoyed the added narrators this time. I can’t wait for the next Travis Devine/6:20 Man!

Riveting as Usual

Baldacci never-ever disappoints. No story is the same. The knowledge and research of the content is evident in his writings. The Edge did keep you on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns. The book ends leaving you wanting more. Job well done. Audible Narration was fantastic as well.

Characters real

Liked characters. Impressed by details of the unnatural dichotomy of caring love and pathologic violence in an insane human. Good trail of misdirection for ID the real source of kills, forcing reader to speculate and assess clues and missing pieces. Invigorating. Liked military precision and thought process of Devine to assure probability of his survival / as aero & bio engineer viet era veteran myself iblike the biology details especially interaction of it with combat success. Also I like the timeliness detail (era post covid mention) -after our own battles to survive and help many to do so, it feels good to divert myself from real life and get into your alternate universe: superb story creativity. Great job as always Sir - and Team!

Enjoyable Listen

Back to Baldacci's good characters & suspense. I liked the 6:20 Man, but a couple previous books had lost their depth. Dream Town was a disappointment. Didn't want Baldacci to get like James Patterson, just pushing out books. This is the Baldacci I like.

The late.ending twists

I like reading about the character "Devine", that Baldacchi writes with a good plot in several books.
