Publisher's summary

Weston Kincaid was my first...everything.

My brother's best friend should have come with a warning label. The man was a cautionary tale and we were the ill-fated cliche. The star quarterback to my loner art geek. But I didn't listen. Not to the warnings. Not to my instincts. I fell, and I fell hard.

Then he left and I was forced to pick up the pieces of my broken heart.

A decade and a lifetime later, he's back. Only instead of being the star jock, he's now a surgeon. A sexy, irresistible surgeon who happens to save my friend's life. As if all that isn't bad enough, he has it in his determined, arrogant head that we should pick up where we left off. But this time, it'll take more than devouring looks and the rush of his touch to temp me back into his bed. And my heart? Not an option.

He's about to figure out, I'm not the same girl he left behind.

Never disappoints

Great story and slow build of story. Happy ever after kind of story. Make narrator’s voice is not my favorite as he is talking thru his nose type of speaking. Other than that, I like the story.

Start of our forever *swoon*

Great story! I've lived everything I've read by J Saman and this was no different.
Aria and Weston is a brother's best friend story - they fall in love as teens but timing is never good. Fast forward 10-12 years later when life throws them back together and Wes is not going to let this opportunity go.
The story has several chapters scattered throughout that give us their past and it works beautifully.
I think both these narrators were new to me. I did end up speeding them up a bit more than normal but then I enjoyed them. The male did a great job with some pretty emotional scenes.
Book is a little light on spice but great plot with a bit of a twist that I didn't anticipate.

Great story but….

The male narrator is horrible. I love Wes but the narrator was just not a fit to the character and his voices for the other characters are worse. So sad because I loved the book.

Used religious curse words toooo much

It was extremely excessive. Aren’t there curse words you can use that doesn’t alienate 45% of your potential audience?

Love it but

I love this story and I will say that the male narrator grew on me but his pacing was slow and I really had to bear with it. He did have moments that I thought were great but the pace in the beginning (and kind of throughout) was a struggle for me. Amazing story.

Good series, but...

Second book in the series, very good story but kind of horrible narration. I had to speed it to 1.45, it was so slow at one point it almost put me to sleep.

Male Narrator is so annoying!

I had trouble focusing on the storyline because the male narrator was absolutely the worst. He spoke so slowly that I had to put it on 2.0 every time Wes spoke. It ruined the overall story for me.

Raw Heartfelt Emotional Read

Eric brought Wes to life with such raw heartfelt emotion! I really enjoyed this one!

DNF Weak Double Second Chances

The description doesn't match the story. She is not strong or making him work for nothing. Her weak, pitiful character was hard to read. How can she forgive a dude that ghosted her for over a decade but give the rationale that under 6 months was too long to the other guy?

I didn't get the connection or growth in the characters -- they were still stuck in that high school mentality. Second chances is one of my least favorite tropes and this double dose was awful.

I wonder if reading this book would have been better than listening to it. The male audio was horrific. I listened at 1.65 to speed it up and it was still painstakingly slow.

Good story, terrible narration

I like this author so I liked this story. I have never written a review before, but I had to because the male narrator is terrible. He is so monotone and slow. Definitely listen to a sample to make sure you can stand the male narrator first.
