Publisher's summary

Inspired by The Hobbit and begun in 1937, The Lord of the Rings is a trilogy that J.R.R. Tolkien created to provide "the necessary background of history for Elvish tongues". From these academic aspirations was born one of the most popular and imaginative works in English literature.

The Fellowship of the Ring, the first volume in the trilogy, tells of the fateful power of the One Ring. It begins a magnificent tale of adventure that will plunge the members of the Fellowship of the Ring into a perilous quest and set the stage for the ultimate clash between the powers of good and evil.

In this splendid, unabridged audio production of Tolkien's great work, all the inhabitants of a magical universe – hobbits, elves, and wizards – step colorfully into life. Rob Inglis' narration has been praised as a masterpiece of audio.

Wonderful

I listen to this on my commute so the length was really good. The narrator is very good, especially with the songs and the many character voices.

Great performance, but slow.

Performance is great, just a little slow, I recommend speeding it up. Otherwise he crushed it.

42 years old and felt like a kid

I have never read this classic tale and decided to begin using my commute time as reading time. I can't tell you very detail of the book because I got "drunk" on the language, just absorbing it and enjoying it.

This was a great book. Highly recommend it.

Potential Audio Readers, Take Heed!

This is how a classic is read. Always give this as an example. Would never have read through the songs, tbh. But I listened to every, single, one with Rob Inglis. Thank you, sir!!!

classic done to perfection

Tolkien has a very special place in my heart. And this is in every way a perfect telling. The fact that the songs are sung and the poetry recited in their entirety makes this the best version in existence.
