Publisher's summary

In the tradition of the bestselling book The One Minute Manager, authors Ken Blanchard and S. Truett Cathy, entrepreneur and founder of Chick-Fil-A restaurants, present The Generosity Factor--a parable that demonstrates the virtues of generosity.

It's the story of a meeting between the Broker--a young man on his way up the corporate ladder who has the illusion of success, yet deep inside feels insignificant--and the Executive--the CEO of a very large and successful company who claims the greatest joy in his life is his ability to give to others.

Thinking he might get a competitive edge by meeting with the Executive, the Broker's worldview is turned upside down as he talks to the Executive and hears the principles that form his life. He calls it The Generosity Factor—a way to give time, talent, treasure, and touch to those in need. Providing a unique twist on what it means to thrive in business, at home, and in life, this story will forever change your definition of success.

Possession, Service, Gratitude, Impact, Enough

Whether you’re religious or not this book goes over what I’ve found to be the truths that sit at the bedrock of human happiness and meaning. Service, Gratitude, and Enoughness.

I’m not religious but I do value the works of philosophy and religion that have survived thousands of years. They are usually touching on elements of the human condition that science has not found an explanation for that maps onto the brain or survival incentives.

If you’re into Christianity then you’ll love it. Even if you’re not, I’d still recommend giving it a try for all the psychological and philosophical similarities it has to Buddhism, Stoicism, Modern Psychology, and Minimalism.

Como complacer a Dios

Me sorprendio cuando empece a entender la historia basada en principios de Dios. Como el mismo narrador lo menciona, es complicado creer que existen personas que en realidad lo aplican en su vida. Hay mucho que reflexionar.

Well said

In our present world we need to hear messages like this that motivate us to think and do something for our less fortunate human beings.

More should read and apply

A great way of thinking and leading your life. A lesson I have always applied is to share the many great things I have learned.

This is a great depiction of Truett

I have heard a lot about Truett and his legacy. His compassion and servant leadership are the biggest conversation topics that come up when his name is brought into conversation, as it should be. These are beliefs and values that the company continues to pursue. Not everyone embodies it well, but it is a work in progress and that is important.

The HEART acronym toward the end is pretty cool

I recommend this book to anyone searching for ways to understand how faith and finances can coexist. It is not an either/or proposition. A successful business person can be God fearing and focused on serving others with a generous heart without sacrificing company results including top line (revenue) and bottom line (profits) if their motivations are pure. The storyteller did an outstanding job narrating this audiobook. I was thoroughly engaged and finished it in two days.
