Publisher's summary

Audie Awards Winner, 2010

The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling trilogy.

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge—against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

Critic reviews

“Larsson’s vivid characters, the depth of detail across three books, the powerfully imaginative plot, and the sheer verve of the writing make the trilogy a masterpiece of the genre.” (The Economist)

“The literary equivalent of a caffeine rush. . . . Larsson was one of those rare writers who could keep you up until 3 a.m. and then make you want to rush home the next night to do it again.” (Newsweek)

“Salander is someone you will never forget. . . . Anyone who enjoys grounding their imaginations in hundreds . . . of exciting pages about the way we live now ought to take advantage of this trilogy.” (Chicago Tribune)

We Love Lizbeth

After listening to the series for a 2nd I’m still amazed at the strength and cunning of Lizbeth! I find myself clapping and cheering for her wins. Excellent story.
The movies fall short in telling the story, but could easily convey her power and intelligence if they used a Dexter like narrative.

So Much better then the Movie

I saw the first in the series as a movie, my wife read the book and said that the book was so much better. I now know the joy of the book. I.m not much of a reader, but a long trip provided the time to listen to this great adventure. I'm somewhat glad I saw the first book, that way I had some visuals to put with the characters. Great listen

A great ending to the trilogy....

I think that this is the only trilogy where I liked each book better than the one before. This was a VERY good ending to the series, and I will very much miss Lisbeth Salander!!!! It was beautifully narrated by Simon Vance. It has been a while since I have enjoyed a trilogy as much as I have enjoyed this one, It is a shame that the author is no longer alive, I would have loved to read more books written by him.

Great Narration

Simon Vance’s narration has been great in every book in the series. This story didn’t hold my attention as much as the first two. There were too many characters and the names were hard to keep track of. The ending helped to tie it all together.
