Publisher's summary

Take the leap.

She's got her feet planted on the ground. He'll teach her to fly.

Jessica, a curvy, driven, neat-freak lawyer is ecstatic when she finally gets her dream job - even though it's taking her away from her hometown. When she meets over-the-top, man-mountain Mikey, a fitness buff and veterinarian with a messy life in all senses of the word, she thinks she just walked into the second-most exciting adventure of her life.

His larger-than-life personality fascinates her, but also shakes the foundations of her quiet, introverted self, knocking her off-kilter. It's a bad idea to let him take her on as a weight-loss client. It's an even worse idea to get involved with him since he's her manwhore roommate...and she's seen him in action.

If they give into their undeniable attraction, is it just a train wreck waiting to happen? Or will their desire fuel a chance at real love?

If you love steamy romance, be sure to check out the fourth standalone in the Giving You series.

4.5 The Ground Beneath Our Feet

Mikey & Jessica

This story was fantastic; it is real and touching and makes you really think.

Books that you can relate to are the best kinds I think. I may not be able to relate to Mikey or what he is going through. But I sure can feel for everything he is dealing with. Him taking responsibility like he does makes me like him a whole heck of a lot. Also totally loved, that he was this big tattoo’s fella who has this incredible heart for animals. Swoon!

Jessica is who I relate to, one she is curvy. CHECK.
She deals with her emotions by over eating. Now that I don’t relate with. But her struggle is something I relate with CHECK.

But herself image, CHECK. That is something a LOT of women deal with and can relate too. We see ourselves or parts of our body that we need to be a shammed of. Who would want to love that, if we can’t love ourselves?

I loved that even though it was a struggle Jessica fights through all the under lying issues. She really wants to get better mentally and physically, even if I personally think her body wasn’t the problem.

I loved that Mikey saw Jessica for who she is and not for the size of her body.

If you have read any of Leslie’s other books … Will is my favorite… I can’t help it, cowboys’ need I say more. LMAO…

But Tor in this audiobook.. SWOON.. That voice.. I am not a blusher, he made me blush! Ok ok .. So I am a blusher but NOT from a voice! That deep, raspy maleness.. Just Yeahhh..
Ok and we need to talk about Charley now… I enjoyed all her female voices. From her Jessica voice, to her mom, to Cherry. Though sometimes the s’s on the end of her words were getting to me.
Loved this book, Read it, Recommend it!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Except the skin your in

Jessica was an unsecure plus sized woman. Her insecurities stemmed from an alcoholic abusive father and by eating she could sooth her wounds.
She decides to make some changes moving is one a new dream job the other. She ends up as the roommate of a good looking man whore who is a veterinarian, and is a messy person, with a menagerie of animals, Jessica has no problem with the animals, but is impulsive about neatness.
It’s not long before she finds herself in his arms and on a new life’s path. Healthy living although not what she thought becomes her new normal and life is good till Mikey reveals a secret that may end there HEA, or can she overcome his shortcomings.

Thank you Tor Thom and Charley Ongel for this audible book from Leslie McAdams birthday bash.

Good story-Painful performance

Positive affirming story of two people each learning self love after pain and heartache in the real world. I personally found the narration to be irritating, but I assure you the story is worth the struggle to listen to.

Funny, Poignant, & Sexy

This is more than a fun and sexy romance. This is a wonderful story of second chances, forgiveness, self improvement, and learning to love yourself. Jessica and Mikey both find second chances as they finally find a reason and inspiration to be better. Both their flaws and issues are so relevant these days and I enjoyed how the author dealt with them with honesty, empathy, and humor. I am not a fan of this kind of narration but I did like each narrator. I found it distracting when one narrator was telling the story and the other would jump in with only two or three words before the first continued telling the story. It just didn't flow well for me. Except for those few moments, I was able to get lost in the narration and enjoy their storytelling. If you like heartfelt, witty, and sexy romances, then you should definitely give this a listen.

Thought provoking

This book was thought provoking. Nothing like I thought it was going to be, but very interesting to watch our main female character deal with issues that I'm sure many will be able to relate to, to some degree and on some level. For some reason, I found it more...thought provoking. It didn't really conjure up any emotions, but more...thoughts.
Tor Thom has a great voice and did a nice job. This was my first Leslie McAdam and Tor Thom.

Loved it.

What made the experience of listening to The Ground Beneath Our Feet the most enjoyable?

I love how the narrators voice makes the story come alive. They bring more depths to the characters and that's what I look for when I buy an audio book.

Leslie takes us on another emotional journey

Leslie McAdam has a way with words and stories like no other. The Ground Beneath our Feet is no exception. Leslie always handles real life issues and struggles with such care. Tor Thom is one of my favorites and he portrayed Mickey and his struggles perfectly. While Charley really brought Jessica's story to life. Narration is so important when delivering this type of emotional read and both were amazing. Thank you Leslie for giving me all the feels.

On the fence with this one

The story overall is about how a person can overcome there fears and addictions to find love and happiness at the end. The story was just ok for me a bit predictable. The narration was good. Good listen for in between books. I was provided with this book at no cost from the author or narrator for a honest review.

Meaningful and steamy! What a combo.

I just loved this story. It was a deep and meaningful love story about two broken souls who are healed as they fall for each other. Both of the MC's struggles hit close to home and were very emotional for me. The narration was flawless and Thor is by far my new favorite narrator. Highly recommend this super steamy romance!
