Publisher's summary

Make your story the best it can be on two levels. Hear each superstar teacher present his unique approach to story telling.

The "Outer Journey" is the essential structural principles driving every successful plot. Each brings years of practical experience and extensive research to story structure, character arc, and how to give your story greater commercial appeal. Full of specific examples.

The "Inner Journey" is the deeper storyline that makes a story truly great. Hauge's view: The Hero moves from hiding within a protective identity to experiencing his or her true essence. Vogler's view: The Hero's inner need is invisible at first, but is revealed to the Hero by the end of the story. Full of specific examples.

This is ideal listening for all writers (including screenwriters, novelists, and playwrights), actors, filmmakers, studio executives, game designers and developers, storytellers, and anyone with a passion for movies and stories.

Smart Helpful Earnest and Kind

These guys are great. They share their discovered formulas and deep templates for story telling that come from Myth and a million screenplays ... four stars is for the audio book experience in not being able to see diagrams.

awesome content

I'm not a movie writer but rather a copywriter and this was very informative and gave me a very clear outline how I can better sell using stories.

A MUST-LISTEN for everyone!

This is not just for writers. The story about the Hero's two journeys is very much applicable to living life as a human being. I'll definitely re-listen and take a ton of notes. I absolutely loved is and would recommend it to anyone; whether working as a writer, marketer, yoga teacher, being a parent...I hoestly think anyone will benefit from these 3 hours of genius. ♡

Awesome

What did you like best about this story?

This was great. Just a little over three hours, but very insightful and helpful. I bought this for Vogler, but I ended up really enjoying Hague. His examples are excellent and he cuts straight to the heart of a great story. I learned a lot from this audiobook. Highly recommend it!

A must-have for any writer

I've been following Christopher Vogler's Hero's Journey interpretation for years and always got stumped when it came to certain things that had to do with the hero's motivations. Well, that's what Michael Hauge's specialty is and I'm glad I discovered this gem of a talk that has both Vogler and Hauge discussing the hero's two journeys. Definitely crystalized a few things for me.

A practical guide

Love the frameworks and structure. Finally crystallized what good story telling should look like for me.

Helpful to first time author.

I am nearly finished writing my first time 'non-fiction' book and I will be incorporating a lot of these points into it after first draft. Their advice doesn't just apply to fiction. Glad I bought it.

Another hit out of the park!

I've heard Hauge live twice, and Vogler is a great addition. To me, the concepts presented here BC make "keeper" books and movies - the ones which stand out.
