Publisher's summary

Leland

Stopping a robbery was only the beginning—to fun, action-filled mayhem. Jackson’s afraid that I’m running headfirst into trouble (again), but I’m not… I’m running gun-first into it. When one of the robbers who’s really just a kid comes begging for my help, I definitely have no choice but to help him.

The kid is convinced his brother has been wrongly accused, and while Jackson My Love might be over there going, “You were hired to look into it, not to go undercover, sink a boat, and hunt down a gang,” I feel like he’s simply confused… because I’m gonna hunt down TWO gangs (and is that a car chase I see?).

Jackson

A simple “Whodunnit” turns into us being targeted by multiple bad guys as we run after them instead of away from them, dragging Cassel and Henry—and some others—along for the ride. I really can’t be the only one who sees the issue here, but… as I watch them race into danger, I’m starting to think I am.

Loving Leland comes easy, but keeping him safe doesn’t because there’s someone trailing Leland who might want to hurt him. The problem is that as Lucas strings us along and tales begin to become tangled, it’s hard to tell who is right and who is wrong.

Contains: Lifejackets used to protect all the wrong things (Leland: all the RIGHT things), the greatest tragedy of ALL TIME (involving The Fence) (even if Jackson doesn’t think so), and the kind of friends that make you realize you don’t need enemies.

I love these characters. and laughing out loud..

Michael Ferraiuolo did an amazing job as always. Alice, I was so excited to see this audible. I was having a depressing beginning to the new year, and Leland and his crew of misfits had me smiling and laughing out loud at work. I can't wait to see more about Waylons' time with Leland and Jackson. i almost peed myself laughing with the boating part.. I rewound the audio to listen to Jackson's description again. This is a series I hope Alice continues for a long time..

Wonderful series

After getting use to the narrator's voice. The story line gets better and better as the series progresses. I am invested and looking forward to the follow up.

Eye Seizures

OMG! This was the best one yet. I can't believe how much I laughed outloud. The only thing I would complain about is that I am finished. I wish I could turn back the hands of time and read it again for the first time. I didn't even wait for my monthly credit. I bought it as soon as it was available.

Hysterical

This series really is one of a kind with its humor. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don’t usually laugh out loud while I listen to books but that was just not the case with this book. That was not the case with this book I laughed so hard my side hurt.

Another Hit (Pun Intended)

Oh Alice, I don’t know how you do it, but I love that you do! The whole gang is back in Hitman’s book 5: Leland, Jackson, Cassel, Jeremy, Henry, the Fence, guns, Blow Up Randy and Rhonda, and even Micah! There’s even a new addition that I love!!

Only Leland can go into a convenience store looking for candy, end up foiling a robbery, which then leads to gangsters, car chases complete with the car chase song, and a whole lot of shooting!

Alice weaves a tale of greed, revenge, and hijinks using humor and wit. Does it get a little bit convoluted toward the climax? Yea, it does. I had to go back and try to remember which bad guy was which a couple of times, but who cares? It was still a superb listen!!

Michael Ferraioulo’s performance was again outstanding. Alice put him through his paces with various accents, raps, a few songs, and a whole lotta Leland!! He handled it all with perfect timing and nuance. I just love everything he does!

I’m gushing, but damn it I love this series! I hope it never ends!!!

So many laughs!

Those of you who know Leland and Co just get this book, you won’t be disappointed. For those who are new to this insanity, if you like car chases, theme songs, gun shrines, laughing out loud, found family, alittle murder, but they totally deserve it. Explosions, not the best boating experience, some questionable singing this is the story for you. Enjoy! Narration is top notch!

entertaining

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: mostly
Was I invested in the characters: mostly

📖 Story comment:
• Pace: good pace, there's always something going on.
• Characters: these characters and their antics are always entertaining.
• Plot: I'm enjoying this series, the "rag-tag" family these guys have created is fun and snarky. I enjoyed the overall story, but it did get a bit convoluted and sometimes Leland being permanently 'over the top' gets a little ... mmm .... exhausting.

🎧 Narrator comment:
Michael Ferraiuolo makes this series and does a masterful performance with these characters. He has perfect comedic timing, great rhythm, inflections and intonations and it's easy to distinguish the characters from each other. A thoroughly enjoyable performance and he bought the story and characters to life.
