Intriguing from cover to cover

I bought this book from the Amazon book store at the local mall I frequent. It was a decent size book and a perfect starter to get back into reading. And I was captivated by the first 3 chapters. With a ravenous curiosity, I finished the entire book in 3 days time. I got the audiobook now to relive the experience, and I was not disappointed. Can’t wait for the next and final book to be released.

it was all right definitely really slow going but the twist and turns were pretty good

Entertaining

Did really well to develop the main character. loved its emotional content. It really got me invited to want to hear more.

Amazing!

The writing is beautiful and the narrator really brings the story to life. This isn't my typical read but I saw a TikTok of a girl sitting in her driveway crying after she finished it and knew I had to listen to it. While I didn't end up in my driveway crying, the ending is a heart wrenching way to wrap up the story that will make you feel all the emotions. I do like that the story is wrapped up at the end of this book and if there was never another book, you would be at peace with that but I'm so looking forward to her new novel being released in October! Absolute masterpiece in my opinion and a must read!

You're not going to like the main character

But that's not the point. The main character is not likable and this novel could be described as a "villain origin" story. I found it enjoyable. The narrator reads a little too slow for me, but I switched between the physical copy & audible. it's an easy, entertaining read with some really heart wrenching moments. Can't wait for the sequel.

Narration put me off

I loved The Scarlet Alchemist and as a Brit living in Japan I expected to like this just as much. Sadly, I found the narration grating (personal preference) and the bad Japanese pronunciation jolting, preventing me from getting fully immersed in the story.

Wonderful

amazing characters and a satisfying arch that comes to a gut wrenching conclusion.

i would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a story that will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for the main character. the Narrator giving a wonderful performance to boot.

4.5 stars across the board!

I was a little skeptical at first… a reaper taking a soul and running for her life, trying to find where she belongs, not looking for love yet finding connections, diving into understand who she is with a moral guide. It seemed like a lot to take in. However, this fantastically written adventure that undergo is truly well done. I appreciate the different stages of the adventure and the character development is great. The narrator also does a great job of differentiation of characters personalities and styles. I look forward to book two next year!

Slow pace

The story is good, a little on the dark side but good. The pacing though I wish were faster.
