The last rite was never meant to be found.

Ten years ago, the love of Daniel's life disappeared. Then Daniel learns that not only did she commit suicide, but she left behind a daughter he never knew he had. Taking his estranged daughter home, Daniel gets detoured to the small logging town of Shellington Heights, a town that is no longer on any map with a population that is no longer human.

Daniel and his daughter find themselves pawns in a supernatural war, with the apocalypse hinging on one question - how far will a father go to save a daughter he's never known?

The Last Rite

The story is so intriguing that it kept me listening and it was hard to determine when to pause for a break. Various narrators gave me a new experience with audiobook since I am familiar with one or two narrators

unexpected delight

This isn't even my typical genre but I enjoyed all words. I hope there are sequels.

The Last Rite

3.5 stars overall
It took a bit to get into the audio book. The sound was gave it a feel of a radio broadcast with a slight tinny quality. If there had been sound effects, it would have been complete. I didn't enjoy the music for the chapter breaks, but that is a small thing.
The story took a while for me to get into it. I am not sure what the issue was, but the as the plot moved along, I started getting into it more. I did enjoy it overall, but there were just little things here and there that kept me from appreciating it fully. It was a pretty fun ride. I was glad that it didn't end the way it felt like it was going to finish up. I though that the story picked up really well from the moment Lisa was introduced into the mix and from that point forward I was in. I really liked the "business suit man" as well... crazy as he was. The story had a lot of heart mixed in with the madness.

Great Story!

The scroll of the Last Rite was never to be found but it was. Daniel receives a phone call about his lost love only to find out that when she disappeared she was expecting his child. Daniel shocked, to say the least heads to meet and get his child. Awkward as the meeting was, they leave to head home, during that drive, a creature jumps in front of Daniels car and they had an accident, but then realize that there was another car who seems to have previous been in an accident. Daniel looks into the car and was surprised by the amount of blood in the car but things get even crazier as he heads to the next town to get some medical help for his injury and report to the police about the other car. That is when things get even crazier, a nightmare to beat all nightmare! Robert Morgan wrote a fantastic story that will keep you listening to find out what happens next and what makes this audiobook so unique is the multiple narrators who do the part of each character! Bravo Robert Morgan on the way you had this audiobook put together!

I'm not finished with this one

I took a chance on this book and really liked it. I still like it. I usually listen tp romance on here, but I also really love horror. This book was like that movie, "Cabin in the Woods." That's all you need to know about this book.

Narration: I loved that one person was acting as storyteller and everyone else had a voice in this one. It would be something like,
Dad: Honey, I want you to do something...
Child: Okay daddy!

Dad was voived by one person and the child was voiced by someone else.

I used to find this style confusing, but it really works in this book.

Interesting book

The Last Rite, By: Chad Robert Morgan, Narrated by Various

The book is about paranormal, intrigue, apocalyptic. The chief characters are father and daughter and their survival. The story has many characters and several narrators. Since the book is 14 hrs and 19 mins long it will occupy you for some time and for several days. The book and plot are interesting. I would recommend it to people looking for interesting engagement for several days.

My hope is that this review helps in your decision to obtain this book.

Don't start this at night!

This has got to be the creepiest book I've listened to in a very long time. I started listening one night after everyone was in bed, as is my usual...this was a mistake. I could not sleep that night! I think this book was great and had good descriptions, sometimes too good. I swear I could see the creatures in the shadows!

An original and captivating story

Occupying a unique niche between urban fantasy, horror, suspense and adventure The Last Right is a very original and captivating story. The ensemble cast fittingly and dramatically represents the characters in a well-crafted and well-paced production.

Folklore Horror

I have to say I totally enjoyed this book as the narration was subtle with so many but blends well not typical for full cast. It is about Daniel Burns an ex-cop finds out he has child from his ex-love 10 yrs. ago Anna Sloan. After confirming Bethany was his he picks her up and her doll Chrissy (given to her by her mother) along with Anna’s diary then the horror action starts there are dog monsters, wolves, spider monsters, businessmen of the corporation, protective necklaces, some monsters are evil other good. According to Native American folklore to prevent the apocalypse and saving humanity using Bethany’s blood given by love one to close the gate while the corporation needs it to open it but needs to get Daniel out of the way. I enjoyed the characters of Daniel (so devoted to his daughter), Charlie Lightfoot and Lisa. Ending was good but also suggests 2nd book could follow (I hope so). I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Loved it!

Let me start by saying I usually stay clear of 'full cast' audio books because I find them distracting. However, the actors are really good here and made the book extremely immersive. I loved the story, interesting characters, creepy, and some really intense scenes (where you can't stop listening). Reminds me of old school horror video games (back when they were good). The writing is excellent and the so is the narration. If you like horror, give this one a shot.
