Publisher's summary

The Light is the thrilling end to The Invasion Trilogy from the best-selling author of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

When the world ends, will there be anyone left to bury the dead?

Peace isn't the way we thought it would be. The planet hangs on the brink of collapse, with only pockets of resistance remaining. While governments fold and submit in the wake of a new enemy, civilians are rounded up and assimilated into new communities.

With the little that remains, Jacob knows that they must make a stand and let the world know that we will not lie down quietly. Those who are willing to take up the fight. They see that now is a time for heroes...a last chance to stand up against the invaders.

A good wrap up if left here.

What did you love best about The Light?

Although I look forward to a continuation of the series if it ended with this book the author did a great job wrapping it up. I am always kept on the edge of my seat with this series and that is something I rarely find in a book.

What did you like best about this story?

Sometimes I think about what it would be like if this happened in real life, and I think the author hit the nail right on the head with this series. Great job!

What about Kevin T. Collins’s performance did you like?

Overall the performance was good, the narrator kept the same voices for the characters in sync and audibly identifiable; which I find is rare. So overall, a good job.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don't look away!

Any additional comments?

The narration to a little getting used to, but the narrator grew on me by the middle of the second book. I did notice some background noise that sounded like a PC alert a couple of times on the second book, but hey, that's ok.

Why just 3?

The third book really could have continued into a long series. I wish the author would have made a series out of this story. I liked the conclusion. The men fought hard to keep those they loved safe. The main characters wife also fought hard for her and her family. I'm glad he wrote her in as a strong female character.

Great resolution to the trilogy

Things come together in this final book of The Invasion Trilogy. The puzzle pieces are filled in with the complete picture of what the Darkness is, as well as its purpose. Battle lines are drawn, and our characters must decide whether to fight or surrender because soldiers and civilians are dying at an alarming rate.

Kevin T. Collins is an excellent narrator and really helps build suspense through his words and intonation. I recommend the Audible version of all three books in this post-apocalyptic, science-fiction series.

Very enjoyable!

I really like this series and wish there were more books. However, it is what it is so I liked what we have and it was well done and wrapped up

dioxin worked wonders

The chemical, dioxin, believed to be fatal to the invaders worked wonders. Delivered as an aerosol it blinded them, drove them mad, and ultimately killed them. This information and the remaining supply of dioxin were delivered to the current headquarters where it was used to great effect. This unexpected development was no doubt a shock to the invaders. It appears this also accelerated the invaders time table by a new group of leaders to light who take direct control of the lesser invaders referred to as Deltas, advancing their plans by eliminating the human men and kidnapping the women and children for their needs at colonization. Jacob’s wife and daughter are rounded up with many others. Now Jacob and crew need to find out where the captives are being held and rescue them. This is a great story with wonderful well-developed characters. There is much going on with the invaders that I do not wish to spoil. Read or listen to the series, you will not be disappointed.

odd ending

good engaging story, but odd anti-climatic ending. non-military characters represent a stretch on capabilities.
