Resumen del Editor

The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous, & Broke is financial expert Suze Orman's answer to a generation's cry for help. They're called "Generation Debt", people in their 20s and 30s who graduate from college with a mountain of student loan debt and are stuck with one of the weakest job markets in recent history, yet they're painfully aware of the urgent need to take matters into their own hands.

The Money Book was written to address the specific financial reality that young people face today. Suze Orman tells her young, fabulous, and broke listeners precisely what actions to take and why. Her advice at times bucks conventional wisdom (Did she just say use your credit card?) and may even seem counterintuitive (Pay into a retirement fund even though your credit card debt is killing you?), but it's her honesty, understanding, and uncanny ability to anticipate the needs of her readers that have made her the most trusted financial expert of the day.

Suze takes listeners past broke, to a secure place where they'll never have to worry about revisiting broke again. And she begins the journey with a bit of overwhelmingly good news (yes, there really is good news): Young people have the greatest asset of all on their side - time.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Downright useful... Orman takes on the financial woes of the under-thirty-five crowd in this how-to book that tackles the mystery behind credit ratings, when to finance your dream business with credit-card debt, and how to talk to your boyfriend about his check-bouncing habit." (Publishers Weekly)

"The first to target teens and twentysomethings, and she adapts her message appropriately, offering 'The Lowdown' on topics from credit scores to career moves to consolidating school debt." (Newsweek)

"Written in a noncondescending manner, and Orman modifies some of the suggestions she has made for her older readers." (New York Post)

Great advice that transcends time, but outdated

Where does The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous, & Broke rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As far as a financial book this is great place to start. If you are young and just trying to figure out your financial book please do start with this one. It's one of the best!

However, some of the info is outdated, like the amounts you can contribute to Roth IRA's or the maximum income you can qualify for a Roth IRA. Much of the advice in this book is accurate and transcends time, however since it is 10 years old some of it just needs to be checked for today's standards/details.

What other book might you compare The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous, & Broke to and why?

It's one of the best out there, so no comparisons.

What about Suze Orman’s performance did you like?

Suze is so passionate and a great orator. I'm so glad she was the narrator in this audiobook!

What insight do you think you’ll apply from The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous, & Broke?

Without a doubt the major focus on my credit score, and the importance of understanding interest rates. I love her advice on paying down credit cards. There's a ton I learned in this book.

Young, Fabulous, and Broke by Suze Orman

A great self-help book. The narration by Suze made it an easy listen. Also it's a good book to read for those who have no clue what a "FICO" score is.

Learning experience

Yes, it is 10 years old. However, Suze Orman provides a hefty dose of timeless honesty and reality that my generation, and myself, could really learn from. Can't wait to get out there and start my young, fabulous, financial life.

A Breath of Financial-Fresh Air

There are many financial Gurus in the world today, but as far as I have found, only one with a comprehensive program tailored to help "The Young, Fabulous and Broke".
It's so very important that the Thirty-Somethings get sound financial
direction and for me, "The Money Book For The Young Fabulous,& Broke" is exactly that , sound financial direction. Thank you Suze Orman!

Take This Advice

Save your money and time by not purchaing and listening to this piece of financial porn. Suz has made a fortune by giving bad advice, she is however great at selling books.

Bad Financial Advice

DO NOT get this book. A bunch of the advice in here is really backwards. As someone looking to expand, not start, my financial education I was blown away by this book. She gives advise to keep you in debt! She advises you to keep adding on debt in bad situation. Avoid it at all costs. Almost none of this advice would further you financially.
