What a mystery!

This is my first Agatha Christy mystery. It is very enjoyable & quite complicated. I very much enjoyed the narration also. I received a free copy. This is my voluntary review.

Agatha spins a wild tale

Who does she think she is criticizing the Dame herself? Me? I'm just a reader with thousands of mysteries behind me. I enjoyed Agatha Cristie 50 years ago, but also gave up when Miss Marple owned up to receiving a letter which gave her the whole solution to the crime. I do not find pleasure in mysteries that are solved in a Deus ex machina manner. That seems to me to be a cheat and a cop-out. In this Poirot's second book, Poirot spends over half an hour explaining it to us. We were not privy to the information that he had which led him to his conclusions, so again, it is a cheat.

And then there is the love at first sight angle. Gag.
And then there's the girl's sister. Of all the unbelievable, outlandish details.
And then there's all the other people in the house, and their secret connections. Good grief.

So, although there are many, many excellent, exciting AC mystery tales, this one merely fills the spot of chronology and character development, as Poirot becomes a household name for us. Not the best story, but still necessary in the series.

The narration is pretty good.
